KUMARAHOU
It is bitter, but has a nice after-taste, extremely good for stubborn, prolonged coughs, bronchitis and asthma. Infuse or decoct in boiling water for 10 minutes drain, bottle.
AKEAKE
Excellent for coughs, fevers and colds.
HOHERIA
Rich in mucilage, ideal for bronchitis, coughs, asthma and dyspepsia, reflux and other inflammatory digestive tract conditions.
BLACK MAMAKU
Extremely rich in mucilage/collagen, excellent to treat coughs, bronchitis and respiratory ailments.
KAWAKAWA
The most diverse rongoa with many applications; really good for coughs and colds, a great gargle for strep throat and infected tonsils – helps to kill bacteria.
MANUKA HONEY
Great for sore throats.
I boil up about a spoon of kumarahou, ginger, mint, lemon or orange, and cinnamon in water for just 3-5 mins. You could also add kawakawa to the boil too. Strain. Add some honey to your taste into your cup at the end.
