Does your face feel tight after you've washed it?
For years, many of us were taught that really clean skin should almost feel squeaky clean.
But that tight feeling isn't necessarily something to aim for.
As our skin changes through perimenopause, menopause and beyond, some women find it becomes drier, more sensitive or simply less tolerant of the products they've always used.
And cleansing is one of the first places I would look.
A cleanser needs to remove the day's build-up without leaving your skin feeling stripped and uncomfortable.
That's why I wanted Botanical Balance Calm & Clarify Cleanser to feel like the beginning of caring for the skin, rather than simply the step before skincare begins.
It combines gentle cleansing ingredients with avocado oil, squalane and shea butter, alongside botanicals including turmeric, clary sage and chamomile.
The important part isn't the long ingredient list.
It's how your skin feels afterwards.
Clean, comfortable and ready for the next step in your routine.
Tonight, pay attention to your skin immediately after cleansing.
Does it feel comfortable?
Or are you reaching for moisturiser as quickly as possible because it feels tight?
Sometimes changing one small step can make your whole routine feel different.

What do the last 30 minutes of your day look like?
Are you still doing?
Messages. Jobs. Tidying. Scrolling. Thinking about tomorrow.
I've realised that my evening ritual doesn't need to be complicated.
A warm shower.
Comfortable clothes.
Lower lights.
Phone down.
A little skincare.
And my Relieve & Recharge Magnesium Oil.
For me, it's less about creating the "perfect" bedtime routine and more about creating a moment when I consciously decide:
That's enough for today.
During perimenopause, menopause and beyond, when sleep and stress can sometimes feel less predictable, I think these little rituals matter.
Not because one product or ritual can promise a perfect night's sleep.
But because slowing down deserves a place in our day too.
What's your signal that the day is finished?

What do the last 30 minutes of your day look like?
Are you still answering messages, tidying the kitchen, scrolling through your phone and thinking about everything you need to do tomorrow?
I used to think an evening routine had to be elaborate to make a difference.
It doesn't.
For me, it's more about creating a clear signal that the busy part of the day is finished.
A warm shower.
Comfortable clothes.
Lowering the lights.
Putting my phone down.
A few minutes spent looking after my skin.
And using my Relieve & Recharge Magnesium Oil as part of that little end-of-day ritual.
Magnesium has become one of those simple things I naturally associate with slowing down.
I don't expect one product to magically give me a perfect night's sleep.
But I do believe the rituals we repeat can help us create a calmer transition between being busy and actually resting.
And during perimenopause, menopause and beyond, when sleep and stress can sometimes feel less predictable, those small rituals can become particularly valuable.
You don't need a complicated evening routine.
Sometimes you simply need to give yourself permission to finish the day.
What is the one thing that tells your body, "I'm done for today"?

Can we talk about something that has nothing to do with wrinkles?
Feeling visible.
I think there can be a strange point in midlife when some women begin to feel as though the world sees them differently.
Our faces change.
Our bodies change.
Our hair changes.
Our roles can change too.
Children grow up. Relationships evolve. Careers shift. We may find ourselves caring for ageing parents while still trying to work out what we want from the next part of our own lives.
And somewhere amongst all of that, it's very easy to lose sight of ourselves.
I don't believe the answer is trying desperately to become the woman we were at 30.
I'm much more interested in the woman we're becoming.
I'm approaching 60, and I certainly don't have everything worked out.
But one thing I feel more strongly about as I get older is that women should not become invisible.
We still have ideas.
We still start businesses.
We still learn.
We still change.
We still want adventures.
And we are absolutely still allowed to take up space.
Botanical Balance was created for this woman.
Not because she needs fixing.
Because she deserves to be seen.
I'd love to know:
Has getting older changed the way you feel about yourself?

When did you last think about looking after your scalp?
We spend a lot of time thinking about the hair we can see.
Shampoo. Conditioner. Colour. Styling.
But healthy-looking hair begins at the scalp.
As we move through perimenopause, menopause and beyond, some women notice their hair feels different. It may feel finer, drier or less full, and the scalp itself can feel different too.
This is why I've become much more conscious of treating scalp care as part of my regular wellbeing routine.
A few minutes of gentle scalp massage is such a simple place to start.
When I use Botanical Balance Nourish & Revive Hair Serum, I apply a small amount to my hands first, then massage it directly into my scalp with my fingertips.
It's not about coating the lengths of the hair.
It's about creating a simple scalp ritual and giving that often-forgotten area some attention.
Nourish & Revive combines botanical oils and extracts including castor, argan, pumpkin seed, rosemary, peppermint, harakeke seed, kawakawa and tōtara, chosen as part of a formulation designed to nourish and support the scalp and hair.
If your hair has changed, don't only look at the ends.
Start at the scalp.

Have you ever thought:
“I used to cope with all of this. Why does everything feel like more now?”
The same workload.
The same family responsibilities.
The same busy life.
But somehow your tolerance for all of it feels different.
For some women, perimenopause and menopause can coincide with changes in mood, sleep and how they experience stress.
And if you're also not sleeping properly, feeling too hot at night or simply dealing with several changes at once, it's understandable that everyday life can sometimes feel harder to juggle.
I think this is one of the parts of hormonal change we need to talk about more openly.
Not because there's something wrong with us.
But because understanding what may be contributing to how we feel can help us think differently about how we support ourselves.
Sometimes that means doing less.
Getting outside.
Taking ten quiet minutes.
Creating a proper end to the working day.
Talking to someone.
Or asking for help rather than continually pushing through.
Botanical Balance was created around this whole-woman approach.
Skincare is part of what we do.
But the woman behind the skin matters just as much.
Have you noticed that your ability to deal with stress feels different than it used to?

Many women tell me they feel dry no matter how much moisturiser they use.
Often the problem isn't applying hydration.
It's keeping it.
Hormonal changes can weaken the skin barrier, allowing moisture to escape more easily.
This is why barrier support matters so much.
When the barrier is stronger, hydration stays where it's needed.
And skin starts feeling comfortable again.

We moisturise our face.
We look after our hands.
We use body creams and oils.
But when did you last actually think about your scalp?
For many of us, probably not very often.
Yet our scalp is skin too.
And as we move through perimenopause, menopause and beyond, some women notice changes in their hair and scalp alongside everything else that's happening.
I've become much more conscious of looking after mine.
One of my little rituals is massaging my Nourish & Revive Hair Serum directly into my scalp.
I use just 1–2 pumps, warm it between my hands and massage it in with my fingertips.
It only takes a couple of minutes, but I really enjoy the ritual.
For me, this isn't about trying to have the hair I had when I was younger.
It's about looking after the hair and scalp I have now.
And I think there's something rather lovely about that.

Did anyone warn you that sleep could become one of the things that changes during perimenopause and menopause?
You go to bed tired.
You fall asleep.
Then suddenly you're wide awake at 2 or 3 in the morning.
Or perhaps you're waking hot, restless or simply finding it harder to get back to sleep.
Sleep changes can happen for many different reasons, and if disrupted sleep is persistent or concerning, it's worth talking to your healthcare professional.
But I also think there's something we can do for ourselves.
Create a proper end to the day.
Not a complicated wellness routine.
Just small signals that tell our bodies it's time to slow down.
Dim the lights.
Put the phone away.
Have a warm shower.
Take a few minutes over your skincare.
Massage your feet or shoulders.
Create an evening ritual that you actually look forward to.
This is one of the reasons Botanical Balance has never been just about what we put on our faces.
I wanted it to recognise the whole woman.
Because sometimes what we need at the end of a busy day isn't another thing to achieve.
It's permission to stop.
