TWENTY-FOUR guns were surrendered to police in Wabag, Enga, on Friday in exchange for money which will be deposited into their bank accounts.

Police Minister Sir John Pundari instructed police to register the surrendered guns, and record the bank account numbers of those who surrendered them.

​If you are one of the people behind these accounts, take note: The Cybercrime Code Act 2016 is watching you. 👁️‍🗨️

​THE FACTS:
❌ Cyber Harassment (Section 23): Sending offensive material to annoy or distress someone.
👉 Penalty: Up to K15,000 fine or 10 years in prison. 🚔
​❌ Po*******hy (Section 17): Distributing explicit content via electronic systems.
👉 Penalty: Up to K25,000 fine or 15 years in prison. 👮‍♂️
​❌ Identity Theft (Section 15): Using fake names or other people’s photos to hide.
👉 Penalty: Up to K15,000 fine or 10 years in prison. 🚫

​THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU ACT:
You might think a fake profile hides you, but NICTA is the authority that can trace you down. In PNG, all SIM cards are registered. Whoever's name that SIM card is under WILL be held accountable. 📱
​The majority of us use our phones to access Facebook. With Digicel and other providers involved, your IP address will be tracked down and your phone number identified. There is nowhere to hide. 📍📡

​WHAT TO DO IF THEY TARGET YOU:

1️⃣ DO NOT RESPOND: Don't give them the attention they want. 🤐
2️⃣ SCREENSHOT EVERYTHING: Save the profile link and messages as evidence. 📸
3️⃣ REPORT & BLOCK: Use the Facebook report button AND report to the RPNGC Cybercrime Unit & NICTA. 📞
