Ding kaluguran tang Kapampangan! Maglakad tayu para kareng Pampango Patriots!
(Our beloved Kapampangan! Let us walk for the Pampango Patriots!)
Pampanga played a pivotal role in the fight for freedom during WWII. Your province was the main land route to Bataan. Your highways and roads were vital to the movement of troops and supplies. But the greatest gift of your province to the struggle for our freedom was your people – courageous patriots whose valor forged an unforgettable legacy.
One such person was Simeon De Jesus. He hailed from Arayat Pampanga, and entered military service through the Philippine Constabulary Academy, becoming the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army in 1941. He established the Military Intelligence Service of the United States Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE). It provided critical intelligence such as troop movements, reporting installations, and the organization of guerrilla links under occupation. He was arrested by the Japanese Military Police in October 1944, and was executed four days later.
We invite you, proud residents of Pampanga, to step forward and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.
Join Freedom March 2026! This isn’t just a walk; it’s a collective journey to remember our roots, celebrate our heritage, and express our everlasting gratitude to those who paid the ultimate price for our nation’s future.
Freedom March is an annual commemorative and educational trek. Participants get to come together and traverse the actual path that our brave World War II heroes walked during the infamous Bataan Death March.
The route begins at Kilometer Zero, Mariveles Park in Bataan and ends in Capas National Shrine in Tarlac.
This event is produced and organized by Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) in partnership with Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), Department of National Defense (DND), and the local governments of Bataan, Pampanga, and Tarlac.
