I used to think that I am a fairly confident person, but since this “BODY ACCEPTANCE” brigade started to come out, i wondered, at almost 37 years old, am I insecure? Does it make me less of a woman that I want to conceal it?😱 Oh nooooo!!
I had to literally sit alone infront of the mirror and convince myself that if I really love my body, I just have to accept it as it is. But ofcourse, my passion for life is far greater than idolatry. I really like being happy and doing things that supports my total well being which incudes learning alot of things, reading, movies, expression thru poetry and music, cooking, health and wellness, and most of all- helping people feel good about themselves. And oh!!!! Dogs🐶. There is so so much fulfillment inside me whenever I get to do that. And how can I do it effectively if I just insert myself in a box where I do not belong. And I know, the deviant in me belongs in the weird box.
The weird box is where the unconventional gathers. Where people express love be it for another or one’s self with passion. Where people who likes to read books are not book smart but are street smart. Where we do what fulfills us because 1st, we are not hurting anyone. 2nd, We prioritize our health(mind-soul&body, physical - and only in that order) Infact, doing the opposite of what our hearts desire is like a breakup from our soul mate. Don’t almost all of us- know how that feels?
It does not make us any less for wanting to cover up our scars. We should keep striving to be the best versions of ourselves, not according to what a stranger in this social media driven life is dictating. The only people, whom ideas should matter for us to consider are our partners thru marriage, our children, our parents not forgetting that only if it is for the greater good of humanity.
