🔥 THE RISE OF A FIREBRAND: MAYOR BASTE DUTERTE’S SPEECH JUST CHANGED THE POLITICAL CONVERSATION 🔥

Still remember that unforgettable moment when PRRD, in his classic tatay style, publicly called out his son before millions of viewers?

“Baste, where are you? Go home.”

Back then, Sebastian Duterte was the carefree surfer of Siargao, riding waves, embracing freedom, and living far away from the brutal currents of Philippine politics.

But those days are gone.

Because the Sebastian Duterte the nation witnessed last night at the RAGE Coalition launching was no longer just “Baste.” What we saw was a man transforming into a national leader.

Clad in a Palestinian keffiyeh, Mayor Baste carried the unmistakable cadence of his father. The same intensity, the same fearless conviction, the same sharpness in thought and delivery that once defined PRRD. But beyond the familiar voice was something more surprising:

Depth. Preparation. Political awakening.

His speech revealed a deeper grasp of international relations, geopolitics, national sovereignty, and social injustice. It was evident he has been reading, studying, and preparing himself for bigger battles ahead.

And just like his father, he did not hold back.

In true Duterte fashion, Mayor Sebastian declared: "THIS IS NOT EVEN A SILENT MARTIAL LAW; THIS IS MARTIAL LAW WITHOUT FORMALLY DECLARING IT.”

He was referring to the relentless targeting and indictment of opposition figures under the current administration.

He also spoke boldly against oligarchs — the same powerful interests his father openly challenged during his presidency. According to Baste, these groups are now maneuvering to regain their old influence and monopolies.

He raised concerns over issues affecting ordinary Filipinos: the lack of support for PGH, the controversial billions removed from PhilHealth, and the widening gap between government promises and public realities.

But what stunned many was how far-reaching his speech became.

He referenced Mali, Niger, and even Burkina Faso’s criticism of the ICC, connecting global power struggles to the Philippines’ own fight for sovereignty. He warned about foreign intervention, EDCA sites, and the growing presence of external powers seeking deeper military influence within the country, even mentioning Davao City as a possible location for a military base.

And throughout it all, he echoed one central principle that defined PRRD’s presidency:An independent foreign policy. A Philippines that bows to no foreign master.

What happened last night was more than a political speech.

It was the emergence of a Duterte no longer standing in the shadow of his father but beginning to carve his own path.

And perhaps for the first time, many Filipinos realized:

The sun-kissed surfer is gone.

A national contender may have just arrived.

⚡ History does not wait for the timid.

⚡ And last night, Baste Duterte showed he is ready to enter the storm.
