It's okay to be affected by something you thought you had healed from. Healing is not linear.

We hold on to those who cannot love us for so many reasons in so many ways, and it's okay. Letting go is one of the hardest things you will have to do, but at the end of the day, keeping someone in your life who makes you question yourself, who makes you feel like you are too much, who asks for you to quiet your soul, that is the greatest injustice you will ever impart in your heart.

Do not lose yourself trying to love someone else. It is better to be alone within yourself than to feel lonely within the home you built inside of another human being.

Forgive yourself for giving your heart to those who could not love it or value it. Forgive yourself for falling for the wrong people, because they weren't the wrong people. They were meant to make them. You were meant to fall for them. You were meant to experience them and learn from their lessons. You do not have to regret the way you put your heart into the world. You do not have to vilify yourself for feelings and for caring, and for hoping that something beautiful you felt with another human being will turn into something real and tangible and pointed.

No one will ever fully be able to understand the internal battles you had to endure just to heal, just to grow, just to make it here today. Be proud of the way you fought to save yourself. Be proud of the way you survived.
