Today felt a little more like my usual Monday again. 🥰

My boys left early for school, my morning was quieter, and I had my own list of to-do's waiting for me. So I moved through it all slowly; checked what needed replenishing, paused to make sweet fragrant tea and actually took my time to enjoy it.

No grand reset. No dramatic “back to routine” energy. Just me, my scents and a few familiar things finding their place again.

These pins may look cute and pretty, but the words on them hold so much more. 🌸 They signify us as women with full lives. We care for family, manage homes, go to work, strive, organise, still want to give more, and carry things in our hearts that nobody else may know about. And as we grow, I think many of us are becoming less interested in more and more interested in meaning. We want a home that is peaceful without needing perfection. We want to buy with thought, gift with intention, rest without guilt and enjoy beautiful things without turning every blessing into content. Even perfume can carry that same consideration; something lovely worn close, enjoyed by us and those nearest to us, without needing to announce or impress. There is something deeply grounding about a life that does not constantly ask to be witnessed and praised. In a world constantly encouraging us to show more, own more and share more, choosing enough can be its own form of contentment and gratitude. May Allah make us women whose private character is better than our presentation, whose work carries excellence even when nobody sees the effort behind it, and whose businesses and ambitions become beneficial without consuming us.

For some, Saturdays call for the beautiful abaya, a wedding invitation and a little extra effort. For others, the weekend means calming down, staying home with all their favourite things and nowhere to rush to. ♥️

There is a subtle difference between a busy home and a hurried home.

A busy home can have meals cooking, dryer running, the sound of someone opening the fridge again, the living room is no longer quite yours, and unwashed dishes multiplying.

A hurried home has tension attached to all of it.

One practical way to soften that tension is to deliberately create small pauses and reach for comfort between tasks.

Finish cooking. Sit down for twenty minutes.

Before attending to the laundry, warm up a cookie tin. 😋 I have been treating myself to Scoopkie lately - comforting and dangerously addictive!

Sometimes, the most restorative thing a woman can do at home is to stop tending to everything for a little while.

This comes as a reminder for myself first; where my boys just returned rowdily from school, welcoming their term break without realising that I'm not sharing their excitement. 😒 With the children home for the next ten days, the house may feel fuller... and so will our minds.

There will be meals to prepare, crumbs to sweep, laundry to do and the familiar question of what everyone will eat next. Even while sitting down, we may still be noticing what needs washing, replenishing or putting away.

The body pauses.
The homemaker in us does not.

So mommies, today’s intention until school reopens:

Deliberately create one small pocket every day where you are genuinely unavailable for 20 minutes. (BUT NOT after everything is finished okay, because at home, something will always need doing. 😮‍💨)

Try:
✓ Making tea/coffee before returning to chores
✓ Letting lunch settle in your tummy before cleaning up
✓ Resting without feeling like you're on standby
✓ Taking a shower without rushing
✓ Scent the room after tidying - and then remain in it long enough to enjoy it too

Familiar scents such as vanilla can feel especially comforting because they soften the atmosphere around you effortlessly.

Just as I'm typing this, I was asked to help with something. I replied, "Ma will do it in twenty minutes."

Most things can wait twenty minutes. 🫶🏼
