Haze season is not a weather problem. It is a health problem that comes with a forecast.

On 6 October, NEA's 24-hour PSI read 102 to 135, in the Unhealthy range. NEA's advice is simple: check the 1-hour PM2.5 before you go out, and use the 24-hour PSI to plan your week.

Three things worth doing before anyone gets sick:

1. Check whether your health plan includes teleconsultation. A call today is better than an emergency room visit on Friday.
2. If someone at home has asthma or a heart condition, make sure their medication is within reach.
3. Employers: MOM's haze guidelines ask you to rotate outdoor staff and schedule indoor rest breaks. A one-line reminder to your team counts.

Not sure what your plan covers during the haze? Ask your adviser. That is what we are here for.

EP salary bar going up to S$6,000 from 2027. ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Here's the part nobody tells EP holders: MOM makes employers insure S Pass and Work Permit holders for at least S$60,000 of hospital care. For Employment Pass holders? No requirement at all. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

So your protection is whatever your employer chose to provide. Often without your family, and it usually ends when the job does.

Three questions for HR: Is my family covered? Is outpatient covered? What happens when I leave? ๐Ÿค”

If the answer is "not sure", that's the gap.

The renewal letter lands. Premium up by double digits. Again. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ No big claims, same team, same plan. And now you have to explain it to the boss.

Insured medical costs in Singapore are rising faster than almost anywhere in the region, and your renewal is priced on that trend, not on how careful your team has been. ๐Ÿ“ˆ

First instinct: cut benefits. Your employees will notice before your finance team does.

Better: ask for your claims report and see what's actually driving the number. Dental ๐Ÿฆท, physio ๐Ÿƒ and specialist visits are often the ones to look at. Small design changes can help, and nobody loses cover.

Renewal in January? Ask for that claims report this week. ๐Ÿ“‹

Singapore's cyber agency just published its yearly report: ransomware is up again, and SMEs were hit hardest. ๐Ÿšจ

Founders still think this is a "big company problem". It isn't.

The typical incident is boring: a hacked email account, an invoice paid to the wrong bank, a phishing link clicked by a junior. ๐Ÿ“ง

Biggest mistake we see: assuming your existing business insurance covers it. Often it doesn't. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

If your company sends invoices by email, you have cyber exposure. Do you know what would actually pay? Tell us in the comments.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival ๐ŸŒ•

On Friday night, a lot of people in Singapore will be looking at the same moon their parents, siblings or friends are looking at a few thousand kilometres away.

That sounds familiar to many of the people we work with. Families split across countries. Teams spread across borders. Careers built far from where they started.

Mid-Autumn is a nice reminder that distance changes many things, but not necessarily the people who matter.

From all of us at IPG, we wish you and your loved ones a warm and happy celebration.

Same moon. Brighter tomorrows.

Here is a question most people in Singapore never ask: what happens to your health insurance the day you leave your job?

If your cover comes from your employer, the honest answer is usually: it ends. Not eventually. That day.

And the next insurer you apply to will look at your health history. Depending on their terms, conditions you developed while you were covered by the company plan can be treated as pre-existing on the new one.

This is why the smartest question about insurance is not "am I covered today?" It is "what happens to my cover when my situation changes?" Between jobs, after a retrenchment, becoming a PR, moving abroad, retiring in the region. Those are exactly the moments when a plan that belongs to YOU, not to your employer, matters most.

And the time to set that up is while you are healthy, not when the change arrives.

We wrote the full guide here, including what to check first if you have been retrenched: https://ipg.sg/blog/health-insurance-after-leaving-job-singapore/

When did you last check what your policy does when your job or pass changes?

Pregnancy Insurance in Singapore: Two Products, One Name 04/09/2026

"Maternity insurance" in Singapore means two different products. Many people buy the wrong one.

The two products cover different situations and follow different timing rules, and the name on the brochure does not always make that clear. Buying the wrong one usually gets discovered at claim time.

We explain the difference in plain English: https://ipg.sg/blog/pregnancy-insurance-singapore/
