When should a bride opt for a bridal updo? Here’s my checklist for you below 👇

✅ If your hair gets limp, flat or frizzy easily in the humid weather
✅ If you sweat easily and prefer to stay comfortable and look polished throughout your wedding event
✅ If you are wearing a gown with high neckline such as cheongsum or halter neck.

If the above applies to you, bridal updo is definitely the way to go!

I’m a professional bridal artist and colour specialist in Singapore, helping women 40s and above look and feel their best.

It took me 40+ years to learn how to stop being a people pleaser. I’m still learning… but I’m glad I’m now being more intentional about it.

This is my personal experience that literally just happened yesterday. I’m glad I know my colours well and that also gave me the confidence to stand firm in my decision.

Have you experienced something similar before, and how did you handle it?

1. It’s all about Warm Vs Cool tones.
Hue is only one aspect. Do you know you could be even be a neutral? 😬This means Value (lightness) or Chroma (intensity) could be more important to you!

2. You can’t wear other colours outside of your ‘season’

Colour analysts are not policeman 👮‍♂️ LOL We’re not enforcing what colours you should or should not wear.

If you love to wear other seasonal colours, a little makeup does the trick to bring back your healthy glow!

Alternatively, wear those colours as bottoms; or accessorise in your best colours near your face🧣👒

3. I’m a ‘Summer’. So my foundation should be cool tone.

Summer is a ‘cool’ season, as the colours that fall under Summer have more blue tones in them.

However, foundation shades should match your overtones - the colour of your skin that you can see with your eyes.

For Southeast Asians, most of us have yellow or neutral-based skin tones. You should ONLY pick cool tone foundation if your skin leans pinkish.

4. I’m a ‘Winter’. So no gold jewellery😭?

Honestly, small accessories won’t make as huge an impact on your skin tone as compared to an outfit.

However if it’s a large statement gold necklace, it can overwhelm someone who’s analysed as a Summer light, especially if she’s wearing a light pastel, cool tone outfit.

5. Why do I need a colour analyst when I’ve AI?

I’ve tried this with AI before. And I got three different results, based on different photos I’ve submitted 😅

With a colour analyst, it comes with a trained eye, professional standard neutral lighting, tested and proven system and tools to cover different aspects of colours.

More importantly, you get to see for yourself how the colours make a difference to your skin tone and overall presence.

There’s nothing more impactful than seeing the effect in real life! 🤯
