SDA Church burned, worshipers tortured in Twic County

A heartbreaking incident unfolding, a Seventh-day church in Pandit Amiol Village, Turalei Payam of Twic County, Warrap State, was reportedly set ablaze Saturday morning in what appears to be a deliberate act of religious persecution.

At least 11 people, including the district pastor, are reported to have sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

In the attack, more than 50 worshipers were beaten, including women and children. Personal belongings such as Bibles, mobile phones, shoes, and even the church’s sound system were destroyed.

According to social media reports, the torturing was allegedly orchestrated by the area sub-chieft, whose name was not disclosed.

Meanwhile, believers call on local authorities, faith leaders, and human rights organizations to urgently investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

On June 13, Warawar Seventh-day church was burned to ashes by an unidentified man who later fled to the nearby bush. Also, on 29 June, a church pastor and an elder were gunned down by unknown armed assailants in Tonj North County, resulting in the death of an elder who succumbed to gunshots.
