Emotional Discounts.
The habit of discounting services in the salon because of what a stylist may have learned about the client while doing their hair can be a very toxic trait. As a stylist often times we are the first and only people to hear secrets our clients have been carrying with them throughout their life. As the confidants of these individuals, we may feel compelled to give a discount in order to make their day better. However, This can be a slippery slope for the CLIENT and stylist relationship.
Always remember, we are providing a service and that service is based on the experience, trust and education we as stylists have accrued. Too often we undervalue our potential or are looked at as un serious by others outside of our profession. Our ability to both provide a service and comfort should not cost us at checkout.
Hold firm to the value of your experience and talents. Allow any promotions and any discounts to work to build your business potential.
