I always wondered why a particular childhood memory would always play in my head whenever I sat alone and allowed my mind to drift off to my happy places . The memory was of me and my father’s trip to the barbershop every Saturday . I looked forward to it . It was routine . My pops would walk into the shop and Dap all the barbers and I followed suit . Feeling like I was the s**t bc I was getting compliments from all the older men on my outfit and how my handshakes and daps were on point .. MAN THAT FEELING !! And I was about to get the fresh cut..shiiiiiiid ! I remember the smell of talc powder and hair tonic. The cold clippers touching my scalp .. the rhythm of clipper and comb working in unison to bring my fade alive !!! Men talked about sports to relationships and family . I learned something new every time . While I was getting my hair cut , my pops would go to the store n get me a snack to have and eat while he got his cut .The memory always made me smile.. Being a Barber hit different for me !
