It's hot out there. Chicago has seen extreme heat again this week, with near-record temperatures, and the intake line at Chicago Animal Care and Control means people and pets are waiting outside in it. Some are bringing in a sick animal, some are facing the hard decision to surrender a pet, others are turning in a stray they found. Our 360@CACC team is there to make that wait a little easier by offering ice water for owners, baby pools for pets to cool off in, and shaded areas for anyone in line.
Most of the time, people don't want to give up their pet. Housing restrictions and financial strain are often what bring them to that line. While people wait, our team is also connecting them to resources like spay/neuter services, pet supplies, and other support that can help keep a pet healthy and keep families together so surrender isn't the only option.

Hace mucho calor. Chicago ha vuelto a tener temperaturas extremas esta semana, cercanas a récords, y la fila de admisión en Chicago Animal Care and Control significa que personas y mascotas esperan afuera bajo ese calor. Algunas traen un animal enfermo, otras enfrentan la difícil decisión de entregar a su mascota, y otras entregan un animal callejero que encontraron. Nuestro equipo de 360@CACC está ahí para hacer esa espera un poco más llevadera, ofreciendo agua fría para los dueños, piscinas pequeñas para que las mascotas se refresquen, y áreas con sombra para quienes esperan en la fila.
La mayoría de las veces, las personas no quieren entregar a su mascota. Las restricciones de vivienda y las dificultades económicas son a menudo lo que las lleva a esa fila. Mientras esperan, nuestro equipo también las conecta con recursos como servicios de esterilización/castración, suministros para mascotas, y otro tipo de apoyo que puede ayudar a mantener saludable a una mascota y mantener unidas a las familias, para que entregarla no sea la única opción.

Starting today, 360@CACC is on site at Chicago Animal Care and Control seven days a week from 3pm-6pm!
Our veterinary social work and community outreach team is now available every day to connect Chicagoans with spay/neuter access, adoption support, pet supplies, and preventative care support.
Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S Western, Chicago IL.

A few of the PAWS Chicago Community Outreach team made it out to the open house for Anti-Cruelty Society’s brand new Pet Resource Center in Greater Roseland today, and we are so glad we did!
Located at 519 E. 103rd Street, this space includes community-based services, accessible support, and a gathering place for animal lovers on the South Side.
Congratulations to the entire Anti-Cruelty team and to the Roseland community on this opening!

Algunos miembros del equipo de Alcance Comunitario de PAWS Chicago estuvieron hoy en la inauguración del nuevo Centro de Recursos para Mascotas de Anti-Cruelty Society en Greater Roseland, y estamos muy contentos de haber asistido.
Ubicado en 519 E. 103rd Street, este espacio está construido alrededor de una idea simple pero poderosa: mantener a las mascotas con las personas que las quieren.
