State of Face Makeup Artistry

Jacie was the fairest of the all, figuratively and quite literally. Delicate but prominent features and such a fun and easy bride to collaborate with. She had a perfect day at the Athletic Club yesterday on Memorial Day weekend. The pro photos towards the end were her talented photographers work.

Jenni wanted her freckles to show, her eyes to look big and bright, no eyeliner, and some lashes for definition on the outer half. Sometimes brides don’t really know what they like and what they want. And the ones who do may feel like they are being particular- but I don’t see it that way. It’s your face and your big day. Hey all. It’s me, Joy. It’s been a while since I showed my face on my actual posts (not just a story that disappears). I love doing makeup and making you feel confident, comfortable, and like the best version of yourself. Besides that, I sing a lot for a variety of occasions (Harmony Project, rock bands, Vaudvillities, and maybe will start doing other musicals if I have time, which I likely won’t). I’m married to a nerdy lawyer who is similarly niched as me with music and we will celebrate 15 years this October. I am shocked. Ben was a wonderful person and great colleague that I had the pleasure of working with many times. He was active and vibrant and now he is gone.
Hug your friends and family. Don’t ever take tomorrow for granted.
I was fortunate to have known him. RIP Ben.

We lost him this weekend and I’m just beside myself trying to understand it.
He was a dream. He was kind and smart. Funny and always smiled. He loved adventure- kayaking, fly fishing, shooting clay pigeons, camping, skiing…. He biked Peloton every year with his wife.
I’m sharing this picture because I want you to know how great he was. How likable he was. I loved being around Ben. He was a great friend to me, and I think I was to him too.
I never expected our time to run out so quickly. 💘
I’m heartbroken. I’m a little brain fogged. I’m a little bit mad.
I was not ready for this.
I love you friend. I don’t think I told you that enough. I loved how deeply you loved your family and Ashley. And the pets you brought into your home.
I loved how you were good at living. You worked hard but made sure to play. I will miss everything about you here on this planet.

This trailblazer, Kara Crowley, just got elected to the Hilliard School Board and is the only educator on the Board. She has no political background and got the most votes. And I just happen to be fortunate enough to do her makeup (and hair) for her pics. I just adore her and can’t wait to see the positive changes she has on schools in Central Ohio.
