Chris Palmer and his dog Zoey went to camp in the Smoky Mountains on December 8th, 2025, which was not unusual, as he often camps, but what is unusual is that he stopped messaging his family after January 9th, 2026 when he said he was headed to the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia, and on January 10th, 2026, his truck was found abandoned near Buxton, NC, on the Hatteras National Seashore.
His parents are concerned as he always kept in touch during his camping adventures. His red Ford F250, found far from where he was headed, only deepens their concern.
I am including the original post from his parents below to provide a more detailed timeline and to include the areas he has traveled since December 8th, 2025.
"I don't post alot on here but id like to ask for help. Our son Chris Palmer and his dog Zoey went to the smoky mountains to camp on Dec 8th. He does alot of camping in the national forests. Dear You,
I want to tell you something kindly, because this is not a lesson you learn through force. It’s one you arrive at through honesty.
For a long time, I thought love required more effort from me. More patience.
More understanding.
More willingness to stay.
I believed if I could just explain myself better or love a little deeper, connection would finally settle into something safe.
What I didn’t understand then is that I was trying to create intimacy without inner alignment.
This is where the work of Carl Jung helped me put language to what I was living, and where the parables of Jesus helped me feel it.
Jung wasn’t teaching religion, and Jesus wasn’t teaching psychology.
They were both pointing toward the same inner truth. We cannot love well when we are divided within ourselves.
Jung called it becoming conscious of what lives in the unconscious. Jesus spoke to it through stories, because stories reach places logic cannot.
This is what Christ Consciousness came to mean for me.
Not perfection.
Not moral superiority. But wholeness.
A way of being where truth, responsibility, and compassion live together inside the same heart.
When I read the parable of the prodigal son now, I don’t see rebellion or failure. I see the part of me that kept leaving myself to feel chosen.
I also see the part that stayed, did everything right, and quietly carried resentment for not being seen.
Jung would call this a split psyche. Jesus showed it as a family story. Healing came when neither part was rejected.
The Good Samaritan taught me something just as important.
I had learned how to care for others beautifully, but I had learned it at the cost of myself. I could explain someone else’s wounds while walking past my own. Jung said we meet our shadow in what we avoid. Jesus said love your neighbor as yourself. I realized I had been loving others well while abandoning myself.
The parable of the sower helped me release blame. The seed was never wrong. Truth, effort, and presence were always there. What changed was the soil. Some people simply were not ready to hold what I was offering.
Jung called this psychological timing. Jesus called it having ears to hear. Discernment is not judgment.
It is self respect.
The pearl of great price asked me to let go of an identity that felt familiar but costly.
The one who waits.
The one who hopes. The one who stays past her own limits.
Individuation, Jung said, requires surrendering who we think we must be to be loved.
Christ Consciousness is not self sacrifice that erases you. It is self integration that steadies you.
And the oil in the lamps taught me the hardest truth.
Emotional availability cannot be borrowed.
Awareness cannot be rushed.
Inner work cannot be outsourced to love or potential or intention.
Jung warned that what we do not face within ourselves returns as suffering in relationships.
Jesus told it as a story about doors that do not open at the last moment.
None of this made me colder. It made me clearer.
I stopped loving from fracture and began loving from wholeness.
I became less impressed by chemistry and more attentive to consistency.
Less focused on being chosen and more committed to staying with myself.
This is what Christ Consciousness looks like in real life.
Not transcendence. Integration.
Not perfection. Presence.
Wholeness is not something you demand from others.
It is something you cultivate within yourself.
And from that place, love finally knows where to land.
With gentleness and truth,
Barb

Your emotions have a lot to say… if you'll only listen. What they are trying to tell you is important, and your body holds the clues. People with a high degree of emotional intelligence are skilled at reading their emotions within their bodies.
Lauri Nummenmaa and his colleagues mapped how emotions were felt in the bodies of over 700 subjects. This image is a visual depiction of where various emotions were located and what intensity they were felt with.
What’s really interesting is the patterns they found were consistent across cultures, languages, and even different ways of triggering the experienced emotions.
✅ Red and yellow areas show increased activation in the body, such as the rush of energy in anger or joy.
✅ Blue and black areas show decreased activity, like the numbness and heaviness often felt in sadness or depression.
💚 Emotional intelligence is driven by your awareness of your feelings. The better you understand what you are feeling and why you are feeling it, the more equipped you are to do something powerful and productive with that feeling.

Timely... the holidays are approaching quickly... but not before food stamps are cut off from the needy. Right before Thanksgiving. I'm not certain how punishing the poor is going to make the government... and all of THEIR pork spending... suddenly sit up straight and act right... However, this challenge reminds me of many times I struggled as a single mother, financially, during the holidays. Having less to work with makes you very resourceful, frugal, greatful and mindful of what's most important in life. In a culture where having MORE, or even EXTRA is pushed as a mark of success... I propose that having enough produces true contentment. When your focus is on being instead of having, on living instead of hoarding, you begin to truly appreciate LIFE. In the sand way that telling people they weren't "essential" pushed people to find self employment and become self reliant... taking away food stamps isn't going to produce the fear and looting they think it will. I believe the church is going to rise up like never before in the middle of the ripples of revival, already on the move across our country. Don't panic. Don't feed into fear. If you have a need, be humble enough to ask for help. You will find it in places from period you least expected. Been there, HAD to do that, learned that God really IS who He says... a husband to the woman without a husband, a father to the child who has no father... and HE actually KEEPS His promises. That's something to truly be grateful for. Very often, less is more.
