Doulas do you have funny mental reactions when things are happening fast in labor that you weren’t expecting?

Right when it starts to get a little sticky, feels more intense and you’re ready to give up…and your baby is playing peak-a-boo! Man as I reflect on the last birth I supported, I’m just still so proud of her. Everything happened in a divine type of order.
This (the meme) was the reaction I had in my head when I held her leg up for her!

My essentials!
Caring for families starts with caring for myself, too. As a birth and postpartum doula, my days can be long, unpredictable, and full of movement, so staying nourished and hydrated is an important part of how I show up for my clients.
A few of my on-the-go favorites: nunona mama bites, Just Ingredients hydration, perele vitamins, and Tosi snack bars.
Because supporting others well means making space to support yourself, too.
Me last night! Seeing the joy on my clients and their families faces chokes me up everytime! I do try to hold it together because I’m a G and G’s don’t cry 🥺😩 but there are those that just really get my eye rivers to flowing 🫶🏾🫶🏾
Celebrating Postpartum Beyond Depression: A Message of Joy and New Beginnings
I talk about my experience at the KJLH expo seeing my clients thriving postpartum, and how we often associate postpartum only with sadness and depression. I emphasize that postpartum is a period of time that can be celebrated, not just endured, and that welcoming change, grieving and embracing new bodies, and leaning on a village can transform this phase into a positive, joyful experience.

KJLH WOMENS HEALTH EXPO 2026!

It’s been a busy week mainly because I made some huge promises to my self, like doing the things I’m scared to do, and finishing things I’ve started. Yall know grief was trying to swallow me up. Since March my paternal side has experienced 3 losses, my dad and two of my brothers with the most recent being July 5th. Grief was showing up in so many different ways for me and one was procrastination. So I’ve been pushing myself to heal but at the same time get my s**t together. I’m proud of myself because my mind will wonder. Why us, why my family… why my little brother…almost like a loop. But I’ve been wheeling it back in. Therapy, the best bosses in this entire world, my partner and my bestfriends have really loved on me and helped.
So cheers to doing things that scare me, Finishing what I start and simply living my life 🫶🏾
Happy Wednesday Family! A few more days to go and it’s the weekend again! I hope you’re finding joy and intention in all you do today 🫶🏾
