April showers bring May flowers 💐
Spring is here, and so are warmer days! It’s time to get outside. Did you know most of our vitamin D should come from the sun? While you do get small amounts from foods such as fish, egg yokes, beef liver, and mushrooms; it’s very hard for most people to get enough vitamin D from food alone.
Vitamin D is involved in regulating glucose tolerance, maintaining serum calcium levels, immune system functions, and regulating blood pressure.
Be sure to get out and spend a little time in the sun each day the weather allows it…And don’t forget to protect your skin from sun damage.☀️

How often do you step on the scale? What are your feelings about it when you do?
When we take that step onto the scale, there’s three important things we should remember:
* It’s just a number.
* It’s really not about that number.
* It in no way defines us now or who we're becoming.
When we see the number that appears, the key things we should think about are:
* What are my feelings about this number?
* What are my choices going to look like when I get off the scale?
* What am I going to choose to do differently to help & love my future self more today?
Giving ourselves a beat down about the scale, or for that matter anything else, doesn’t help. It’s not productive & it keeps us from moving forward. It also gives us excuses like "I'm never going to be able to do this, so why even try?" Those thoughts are lies that we tell ourselves to grab just a moment of comfort, but it doesn't last. Being uncomfortable is where we grow, get curious about ourselves and make things happen.
Changing the conversation with ourselves is where we begin to transform into who we are going to be and show up as in the world. These are some thoughts to help us get there:
* What is my next best choice?
* When I beat myself up, and/or treat myself unkindly, it creates the longest path to get to my goals.
* I don’t need to overcorrect, so what does a doable way of getting back on track look like for today? And what are my thoughts about that?
Cleaning up our thoughts & using our experiences to learn and train our brains in a different way is where real lasting change happens.
Getting our minds & thoughts in a healthy place is so much better than any meal plan, rigid workout schedule or crazy diet. It’s our where our overall wellness starts.
Let’s make just one small thought shift today & see where it takes us.

Happy Monday y’all!
It tends to be really easy to focus on the negatives in life. Instead, try shifting your mindset to find the wins. No matter how big or small they are. We should be celebrating all of our achievements!

What stories do you tell yourself? Are they ones that have regret, shame or anger? 👎
Our past is a mix of facts, thoughts, feelings & opinions. That mix creates our stories and over time, those stories get lighter on facts and heavier on opinions.
The more we tell our stories to ourselves, and create bigger impact about how things played out, we tend to stomp down facts & pump up drama. 🤦♀️ That’s how create such defeating thought loops for ourselves, AND that’s where we can find ourselves ruminating in regret…That’s absolutely not where we need to be hanging out.
We do this is several areas of our lives, including when we think back on diets, working out, eating habits & buffering. It’s how we make up stories that lead us to justifications & a “quit mentality.”
Just imagine what it would be like to not include the drama & not tell ourselves the stories of regret and negative self-talk. What would that look & feel like?
It would look super fact based & pretty darn calm ~ Which would be amazing! 😂 It would leave us in a place of clarity, honesty with ourselves, and clear a path for more self-love & respect. And most importantly it would break us out of the ever-turning loop of frustration & blame. 💜💜

What does "normal" eating mean to you?
We hear so often things like "I don't want to meal plan, I just want to eat like normal people do." What exactly is that?
To be honest, normal eating should be eating when our body is giving us ques to eat and stopping when we've had enough. It should be that simple.
But then the drama floods in and we start putting all of this baggage on ourselves about not getting to eat what, when and how much we want. Or not being able to go out with friends and family because we are scared of the food that will be in front of us.
We need to stop all that mess.
It's all in the perception that we create for ourselves. When we fix our thinking around situations with clarity, it makes everything easier, and then new habits are formed and a natural (or if you prefer normal) relationship with food happens.
Do you want to go to a restaurant? Do it. Do you want to order something you love? Plan it. Just eat if you're hungry and stop when you're satisified...Not completely unbutton-your-jeans stuffed.
We will never, I repeat NEVER tell you that a food is "good" or "bad" or that you should or shouldn't eat something. That's not what a healthy relationship with food looks like. It really is all about how you're thinking, what your brain is trying to convince you of, and how you are going to make reasonable, calm and drama-free choices that benefit your future self greatly. Food doesn't control you ~ You grab that control back.
You've got this. Let's choose some things today that our future selves will definitely thank us for.
