Slinging Chips™
Not everyone understands what it means to sling chips.
Epoxy installers do.
The Slinging Chips™ collection is a tribute to the crews behind flawless full-broadcast floors, clean garage coatings, and the craftsmanship that transforms ordinary concrete into something built to last. Every handful of flake, every pass across the floor, and every completed broadcast reflects the pride that comes with mastering the trade.
This isn’t just throwing chips.
It’s creating a finish that speaks for itself.
We melted a bucket… but it was on purpose.
Before anyone gets concerned, this was a controlled demonstration performed with proper safety precautions. Fire extinguishers were on hand, the area was clear of unnecessary combustible materials, and the purpose was to demonstrate a real hazard associated with working with epoxy.
Epoxy doesn’t just dry. It cures through an exothermic chemical reaction, meaning it generates heat. When a large volume of mixed epoxy is left in one bucket, that heat has nowhere to go. It builds rapidly and can become hot enough to soften or even melt the plastic container.
The biggest takeaway isn’t that epoxy can melt a bucket. It’s that every contractor should have a plan for leftover mixed epoxy before they ever start mixing.
On our jobs, we never leave excess material sitting in one bucket. We spread it into multiple shallow containers or onto a safe, noncombustible surface so the heat can dissipate as it cures. Planning for leftover material is just as important as planning the installation itself.
Good craftsmanship isn’t just about the finished floor. It’s about understanding the chemistry, anticipating the hazards, and working safely from start to finish.
That’s why we’re sharing demonstrations like this to help raise awareness and promote safer practices throughout the coatings industry.
Doing the damn thing.
Yo be the best you must do the best……….
A lot of people want to know how long the project will take, what kind of prep is needed, and which coating system makes the most sense for their space. That’s a smart place to start. The right floor depends on how you use the garage, what condition the concrete is in, and the look you want at the end. We walk homeowners through those details so there are no surprises. The goal is to make the process simple and help you choose a floor that fits your home and your budget.
