Sharing my experiences falling in love with hikes and my adventures after
10/01/2026
What a packed month. Honestly one of the best this year.
These recaps help me focus on the good parts of life.
Saw the twin a lot.
Danced at shows.
Friend time.
My boy.
Accomplished big goals.
& Adjusted to work.
A student randomly told me she could tell I got my sparkle back… holding on to that.
September adventure: pottery class with my twin 🏺
Most of my adventures this year, I wanted to do again the second they were over. This one I wanted to stop within 15 minutes 😅
What’s something you tried once and never need to do again? 👇
Trying it was still worth it, and I got to do it with my twin 💛 We used to watch movies growing up where I would dream of having access to try.
But I’m simply not an artistic person. It does not bring me joy or help me get out of my head. I somehow just get anxious and angry🙃 And who knew it was physically hard?!
I will still highly recommend pottery_colorado for being so patient with me and making it more fun! People who are not me should really go take a class!

It’s amazing how quickly my brain lets me forget memories
This is a problem when I need it to do my job (history teacher with a terrible memory is not ideal) but really comes in handy when I need to block out things that are hard
I’ve already forgotten most of the Denver Century Ride Course 🙃
I remember that things did get hard… a lot
I remember doing a lot of climbing and thinking I should have trained on Lookout Mountain every weekend
I remember getting really angry that I missed a turn and added 3-4 miles I knew I might not get through at the end
I’ll never forget the exhilaration of coming down Lookout Mountain. I’ll chase that feeling forever
And I only remember wanting to cry at mile 88 when yet another climb seemed like it would never end 😂
Shout out to the best support crew who found me right after that. That stop got me through the end
Ended up finishing feeling so strong. Proud of my fueling strategy! Can confidently say this was easier than triathlon 😂
Overall, this course was beautiful. I’d do it again. Like for real, what a way to see the beauty around Denver. I noticed all the badass women out there riding… we don’t make up the majority, but we’re still out there taking up space.
Now for some honesty… If you’re looking for a fast route, this isn’t it. The roads are open to traffic, tons of red lights, and lots of stops in the last 5 miles when all you want to do is get off your bike.
Thinking of doing the Denver Century Ride? Find your support crew. Truly couldn’t have done it without mine. 🥹

Twas the night before my first century ride…
& I’m just reflecting on this training cycle.
I’ve been questioning all week why I even wanted to do this. I’m tired.
Then reminded myself I love doing hard things. I want to live this life. For me that means I’ll keep adding random things to the bucket list and crossing it off.
I’ll have a long time to meditate tomorrow…to soak it all in… and then celebrate the work💃
It’s been fun ✌️
