🎨 Industry Tip — Know Your Color Cost per Service (CPS)

If your color costs seem higher than expected, the first step is understanding exactly where your product is going. Many salon owners lose profit through overmixing, product waste, and untracked usage at the color bar.

Start tracking every gram or ounce used for each color service — including developer, bowls, foils, gloves, and other supplies — so you can understand your true cost per appointment.

Action Step: Review your last 30 days:

CPS = Total Color Spend ÷ Number of Color Services

Once you know your CPS, you can set a target, improve your mixing and dispensing process, reduce waste, and make smarter pricing decisions to protect your margins.

Small improvements in product control can create a big impact on your salon’s profitability.
