Here’s the thing: while your color is processing, it’s oxidizing. During that time it can go through all kinds of weird phases. Purple. Orange. Murky. Too dark. Too bright. Sometimes it looks absolutely nothing like the final result.

Now, logically, I know that’s completely normal.

Emotionally? The second I glance over and catch your hair in one of those awkward in-between stages, my brain goes, “✨What if this is the final color?!✨”

So for everyone’s sanity (mostly mine 😅), I let the timer do its job and trust the science.

If I’m hiding in the back while you’re processing, just know I’m not avoiding you... I’m protecting my own peace. 😂

Sometimes inspiration comes from a breathtaking sunset. Sometimes it’s a painting, a flower, or a photograph...
..and sometimes it’s a tiny image tucked inside a plastic prize ball. 🌙✨

When Zoe asked Lauren and me what inspired this wig, the answer was simple: we pulled a capsule from my inspiration machine. Inside was a NASA photo of a moon (or distant planet), and that became the jumping-off point for everything we created.

The fun part? The inspiration machine is almost finished!

The idea is for clients who come in saying, “I don’t know what I want... surprise me!” Instead of scrolling Pinterest for an hour, you’ll get to pull a mystery capsule and let fate decide your inspiration. Think of it like a flash tattoo, but for your hair. Some capsules hold color palettes, others feature placement ideas, and a few contain fun surprises. Every one is meant to spark creativity and help create something uniquely yours.

Apparently, trusting the mystery machine paid off because this collaboration was nominated for a One Shot Hair Award! 🥹💛 If you’re not in the hair industry, it’s one of the highest honors a hairstylist can receive, similar to the Academy Awards or the Grammys in our profession.
