Before the beauty bar… there was the lash bar

When I first started dreaming about my business, all I knew was that I wanted to create beautiful lashes. I spent HOURS learning the art of lashing — practicing, perfecting my technique, studying every detail, and falling completely in love with the process.

Lashing taught me patience, precision, creativity, and most importantly, it taught me that I truly loved making people feel beautiful.

Eventually, that little dream grew into something bigger. I went on to become a licensed esthetician, and my vision for my business expanded far beyond lashes.

I no longer do lash extensions, but every now and then I love looking back at my old work and remembering where it all started.

These lashes may be part of my past, but they will always be part of the story behind my beauty bar.

From a girl learning to lash to the beauty bar I have today… what a journey.

And honestly? I’m still just getting started.

After more than 20 years in the beauty industry, I began to realize that many people seek beauty services to feel better about themselves, but true confidence and self-love require deeper healing. This article explores my personal journey of overcoming insecurity, embracing self-acceptance, and transforming that experience into a business designed to provide more than beauty services.

Eximius Bella was created to redefine the beauty experience by combining beauty, wellness, and healing in a space that encourages self-reflection, restoration, and personal growth. I also share my long-term vision of expanding beyond traditional beauty services to include wellness resources, support groups, retreats, and other healing-centered experiences.

Eximius Bella: Healing Through Beauty Have you ever heard of a beauty bar centered on mental health and healing? Neither had I until I created one. After more than 20 years in the beauty industry, I often questioned why so many professionals were unkind, competitive, and hurtful toward one another.

This was such a special moment with a fellow sister in Christ from Charlotte, NC. We had never met in person before, but she trusted me to do her makeup and celebrate her birthday with her. We spent the evening laughing, talking, and making memories together. Although we never had the chance to hang out again, I’m grateful our paths crossed. It was truly a night to remember, and I’ll always cherish the connection we shared.

Fashion has always been my first love, and my appreciation for the art of beauty was instilled in me by my mother.

These photos capture a young beauty therapist in the early days of beauty school—eager to learn, excited to create, and passionate about serving others. They show a version of me that is fresh, authentic, and full of dreams.

I’ve always believed there are no rules to artistry—only endless opportunities to grow, create, and refine your craft. That mindset continues to inspire me as I pursue excellence and embrace every opportunity to learn.

These memories take me back to 2021, when I was studying beauty at Health & Style Institute and building the foundation of what was then Royal Lash BBB, now proudly known as Eximius Bella. Every season has shaped the artist and entrepreneur I am today, and I’m grateful for the journey.

Looking back at where it all began.

These photos are from the early stages of my licensing journey at Health & Style Institute, where I studied Esthetics and Makeup Artistry. During my final month of school, I was given the opportunity to do light makeup for a newly established PMU artist launching her business in Greensboro.

The shoot highlighted microblading, henna brows, and bridal makeup, and it was one of my first opportunities to work on a professional beauty campaign. Experiences like this helped build my confidence and reminded me why I fell in love with this industry.

Although my journey eventually led me to create Eximius Bella, I’ll always be grateful for the opportunities and people who helped shape my path. Every experience has been part of the foundation of the business I’m building today.

Your job as a makeup artist is to listen to your client and give them what *they* need—not just what you have to offer.

Many of my clients are first-time makeup wearers, and one of the biggest concerns I hear is, “I don’t want to look like I’m wearing a mask.” They often believe makeup has to be full glam, heavy, or so dramatic that they won’t recognize themselves.

I believe beauty should enhance, not hide. My goal is to create an everyday makeup look that feels like *you*—just a little more polished and camera-ready. I also take the time to educate my clients on proper skincare because healthy skin is the foundation of confident makeup wear.
