For today's History Shave, I had the rare opportunity to visit the topic in person. My daughter and I visited the ruins of the West Barnstable Brick Company, a long-defunct brick-making empire famous in Massachusetts and the U.S. itself. I include photos I took myself at the end of the video.
I had to use for this topic. Their "Valley Forge" is among my favorites. It is a sweet and boozy fragrance that envelopes beautifully, and I love the longevity. Hope y'all enjoy the video!

"Verdure" is thus far my favorite fragrance ("Huckleberry" is a close second), and this is a great offering. The term "Verdure" is used to describe lush vegetation or vibrant foliage. This scent encapsulates that wonderfully. It is a vibrant and fresh take in the Fougère realm and has a couple of notes that give it a unique twist. The splash of this stuff is outstanding. Scoop this up if you see it!

This set was inspired by Jo Malone's Nectarine Blossom And Honey. It was a great collaboration meant to focus on some of the female wetshavers at the time (2021, I think?) and has become oe of my favorite scents for the change of the seasons. It honestly reminds me of an incredibly fresh and clean bubble bath. It's very bright and airy, with just the right amount of sweetness. This was such a good release.

Happy Mother's Day!
I decided to reach for some Unobtanium today. "Honey Bear" is a wonderfully simplistic yet delicious honey fragrance with a hint of fruit and woody undertones. The V's Barbershop splash reminds me of a sweeter and less musky Clubman, and it pairs wonderfully with this soap.
K Shave Worx closed their doors early in 2022 just as I had started trying their stuff. Using sets that you can't replace is bittersweet: it's such an enjoyable shave, but each one is one step closer to running out of something you can't replace.
Speaking of irreplaceable (nice segue, eh?), I hope all you Moms out there have a terrific day today. I wouldn't be where I am without mine, and my kids are lucky enough to have a great one of their own. Take care!

"Beatrice" from is a very floral and slightly gourmand offering. Its counterpart, "Dante", is a wonderful Fougère fragrance, and so this one simultaneously compliments and contrasts it. The Divine Comedy is one of the coolest books I've ever read, and I bought "Beatrice" and "Dante" blindly based on their inspiration alone. While I don't use this set very often as it is extremely sweet and floral, I enjoy it when I do. They have a nice base, and the scent has great longevity. I'm smelling good today. To commemorate a couple of upcoming big releases from , I thought I'd break out one of my favorite soaps from them. "Sangria" is an absolutely delicious fragrance that reminds me a bit of the smell of fruit snacks when I was a kid. It is an excellent scent, so well blended that you almost forget it's named for a style of wine. Connecticut Shade is a style of leaf grown under cheesecloth tarps to mimic a cloudy tropical environment. The result is a thin and sweet leaf widely used for wrapping or filler. They are cured for weeks in wooden huts that are a staple of the New England landscape and are primarily grown in their namesake state, but also predominantly in Massachusetts of all places.
This set from encapsulates the sweet fragrance that certainly must emanate from these huts in one of my favorite to***co scents of all time. It is a delicious, almost syrupy offering that knocks your socks off, and it's a beautiful homage to one of the oldest and most historic crops of our nation. Absolutely love this scent.

This set was originally released in 2022 as a fundraiser for a Mr. Jim Judy, a wetshaver from before I got into the hobby. I loved the scent notes and the cause, and scooped it up. It has since been renamed "Amalfi 3K" and is inspired by Acqua di Parma Colonia, and it has a very heavy citrus-forward scent that envelopes a heart of fresh green and mildly woody elements. I have not used this set in ages and specifically reached for something that I wanted to re-visit. "For Jim" is just as good as I remember.

I unfortunately will not be joining tonight's Shave Masters live. It is our son's third birthday today and, while we had planned on doing stuff to celebrate it this past weekend, we had nothing but wind and rain. This coming weekend is a no-go due to my wife and oldest son's work schedules, so today it is. We will be going out to eat at the first place we took him to as a family after he was born. It's a ways away and I couldn't guarantee I'll be home in time for the show. My wife loves to do things like that, as do I. Great family memories.

I will use it in a video to give my thoughts on it this week since I won't be on tonight. Out of the tub, it is a wonderfully sweet and green accord, close to a citrus Fougère. I can't WAIT to try out their new EIEIO base (best name for a base ever, Doug 😆). I'm also loving these new splash bottles. Available May 9!
