Menopause is personal.
Sis, if your sleep has changed, your waistline feels unfamiliar, your temperature has a mind of its own, or your emotions seem to arrive without warning—let’s stop calling it “just getting older.”

Your body may be asking for a different kind of support.

Menopause does not show up the same way for every woman, so the conversation should begin with what is happening to you.

💜 Which change surprised you the most? Drop it in the comments.

Girl…where did this belly come from?

You’re eating the same. You’re moving the same. But suddenly, your waistline is doing something completely different!

Let me tell you—menopause does not have one look, and the menopause belly can show up in women of every race, shape, and size.

As estrogen declines, your body may begin storing more fat around your middle. Add changes in muscle, sleep, stress, and metabolism—and what worked for you before may not work the same way now.

But listen, Get It Back Girl: this is not the time to punish your body by barely eating or doing endless cardio. It is time for a new strategy—strength training, more protein and fiber, better sleep, and support designed for this season of your life.

Have you been asking, “Where did this belly come from?” Drop a GIRL, YES! in the comments.

That menopause belly can make you wonder, “What in the world is happening to my body?”

You are eating the same foods and doing the same exercises, but your waistline is responding differently.

Declining estrogen can change where your body stores fat. Muscle loss, poor sleep, stress, and metabolic changes can also make your old routine less effective.

The answer is not simply eating less or doing more cardio. Your body may need a different strategy now—strength training, adequate protein and fiber, better sleep, and support designed for this stage of life.

Have you noticed more weight around your middle during perimenopause or menopause? Let’s talk about it in the comments.

Ask your doctor about a bone density scan. I know you may be hot and tired but you also want to protect your bone health.

Ladies, I receive so many questions from women who say, “I think I’m in menopause.”

But let’s clear something up: if you are still having periods—even if they are irregular, heavier, lighter, shorter, or months apart—you may be in perimenopause, the transition leading up to menopause.

And please hear me: you can still ovulate and become pregnant during perimenopause. Your periods may be unpredictable, but that does not mean pregnancy is impossible. If you do not desire pregnancy, talk with your healthcare provider about contraception.

Menopause is confirmed after you have gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period.

Perimenopause may cause hot flashes, night sweats, difficulty sleeping, mood changes, brain fog, vaginal dryness, decreased libido, weight changes, headaches, and joint discomfort.

But don’t assume every symptom is “just menopause.” Other health conditions can cause similar symptoms, so you deserve a proper evaluation.

Stop guessing and start asking questions. Follow Dr. Tyra for more one-minute menopause education—and share this with another woman who needs to hear this.
