Yes! If the hair is dark, it’s gonna be more than 1 visit and the integrity of the hair must take top priority so I try to set expectations from the get go. AI has not helped by giving clients an unrealistic expectation. This is why it’s important for the stylist to be well educated and know how to communicate this well enough for the client to understand.

This tip helps both clients and stylists set realistic expectations during a color appointment 💇‍♀️ 📸 When picking a hair color photo to show your stylist, choose someone with a similar natural color to yours. This makes a HUGE difference in how achievable the result is!

💡 Example: If I showed my stylist a blonde photo of someone who’s naturally dirty blonde, there’s no way to get that same bright, icy blonde on my dark brown (level 5) hair without major lifting — which causes more damage and fights lots of warm undertones. 🧡 ✅ Yes, brunettes can go blonde — even platinum — but it’s a process that takes time, commitment, and compromise on health and tone and will require a lot more maintenance!
