❤💇‍♀️📸 Do you need help getting your child a haircut and photograph to start the school year? Check out The Portrait Project, a local community initiative providing FREE back to school haircuts and photos in Evansville, Indiana!

The Portrait Project exists because every child deserves to have a photo they’re proud to look back on. For some families, school picture day comes with added stress. Maybe a professional photo just isn’t in the budget this year. Maybe a child has outgrown their haircut and there’s simply no extra money before school starts. Those situations don’t define a family, and they shouldn’t mean a child misses out on having a beautiful photo.

This event was created to remove those barriers.

Each child selected for The Portrait Project will receive a complimentary haircut thanks to the students at The Salon Professional Academy Evansville and a professional portrait in partnership with multiple local photographers. Families will receive both a printed portrait and a digital copy so they’ll have a memory to keep for years to come at absolutely no cost.

To respect the privacy of the families we serve, we won’t be publicly discussing anyone’s financial situation or asking parents to explain their circumstances online. Instead, we’ll be taking on private applications and working with local community partners who already know which families may benefit from this opportunity. The goal has never been to highlight who is struggling. The goal is to make sure every child walks away feeling confident, celebrated, and seen.
