Notice to MCB Quantico Mainside Personnel

DO NOT DRINK TAP WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST
Failure to follow this advisory could result in stomach or intestinal illness

Until further notice, all mainside personnel are directed to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes. On the evening of September 7, 2026, the Base Main distribution system experienced a suspected water-main break that nearly depleted the Below Ground Reservoir (Treated Water Tank). This safety measure is required due to the potential risk of E. coli contamination in the drinking water supply.

Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Boiling is the preferred method to ensure that the tap water is safe to drink. Bring all tap water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water.

Air pollution in the region is very unhealthy.

MCCS recreation activities (Golf Course, Pool, Lunga Recreation Area, and Auto Skill Center) have been restricted or closed; call or check the website for daily status.

Consider cancelling outdoor activities.

Personnel with asthma or respiratory conditions, pregnant individuals, and older adults should avoid outdoor exertion.

Monitor social media, the base website, or QMNS for updates to the base status or restrictions.

Make sure to properly prepare yourself when planning for and conducting summertime activities!

👉 Understanding hazards and taking action to mitigate and manage risk is a personal endeavor. Being prepared for periods of extreme heat can keep you and your family Semper Safe!

👉 Remember: Stay in the shade when possible, always carry a water bottle and wear a hat with light clothing to help beat the heat while your having fun in the sun.
