Urdhva Mukha Shvanasana (erd-vah mook-ah shiv-ah-saw-nah) or Upward Facing Dog - Most commonly used in flow transition right before downward facing dog. The strength of the arms and top of feet lift the tops of the legs off the ground. This pose also expands the lungs and opens the heart, welcoming and complimenting your flow for a more beautiful practice.
This pose can be practiced on and off the mat. Sometimes it can be the most difficult to achieve but it provides a high amount of satisfaction when mastered. Recommend that you practice this one every day.

Imagine if change were your best friend. You might welcome it rather than dread it or even look forward to it. Better yet, because it is your best friend, even it is imperfect, you might adjust yourself to make your relationship better because that’s what best friends do. Assess your relationship with change and allow that relationship to guide your path into new situations. Your healthy relationship with change will allow you to dive in with uninhibited joy and unencumbered fearlessness which will open more situations you can experience together.

Virabhadrasana I (veer-ah-bah-drah-saw-nah) or Warrior 1, is the first of the three warrior poses. The hands overhead represents the emergence from the earth by Virabhadra, a being that was created by Shiva to avenge his wife’s death. The front leg is as close to 90 degrees as possible and the back leg is just as engaged to the point where it could hold weight (I’ve had instructors lay on this leg to prove this point).
Padma, or lotus mudra held close to the heart and opens that chakra. Imagine a lotus emerging from the murkiest waters exposing itself untouched and pure. This symbolizes the hearts ability to do the same, but the heart must grow to do so.

Vrksasana (vrik-saw-sa-na) or tree pose is a favorite among beginner and advanced yogis alike. A bonus is that it gives you the opportunity to assess how you distribute weight across your foot and allows you to improve it which can aid in posture and gait.
