As someone who loves makeup, hair, and all things beauty, I have had to learn—and am still learning every day—that I must love myself fully, mask off.

And I don’t just mean the external masks of hair and makeup, but anything that I might identify with more than God.

For years, I was content with just looking the part and “faking it until I made it.” I based my identity around being the girl with the curls popping and bomb make up which in itself isn’t bad. I allowed my success to drown out the voices of insecurity, believing that doing “good things” was enough to fill me up. But this is a trick of the enemy.

We cannot allow anything to define our identity more than God. The applause and approval of others are not the foundation we want to build on. One day people may applaud you, and the next, they can crucify you.

The stability you seek can only be found and anchored in a relationship with Jesus.

Your value and identity aren’t found in what you do.
They’re not found in success.
They’re not even found in serving others.

Your value and identity were solidified on the cross. God deemed you worthy by sending His son. And because He is God, He left you the greatest gift: the Holy Spirit.

If you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, I encourage you to make this decision now. It’s the most important decision you’ll ever make.

This season is called MASK OFF. And it’s been a process that requires my yielding 🤧

Y’all, tomorrow night, WorthyHER will be having a conversation with Singer, Songwriter, and Worship Artist on a topic that is so near and dear to my heart. We are going to be discussing her new journey to fully embracing her natural hair as an artist on the platform, and what this journey has been like for her. She recently did a post challenging herself and others for Natural November, and my girl has been crushing it.

I will share my journey, and we are going to start a conversation that we feel is so necessary for this hour and for women who look like us. My heart's desire is for women to love and accept their curls, coils, and waves as it grows out of their scalp. I am aware that this journey may not be for everyone, but I still want to invite you all to join the conversation with us.

The power of detoxing your curls and removing all of the dead weight that just makes them come alive.

I am so excited to be working on curriculum to bring Curl Education to the Seattle area for BOTH fellow stylist and consumers.

Starting to take pictures so we can began to track progress. This is her very first appointment and we did a detox, but I want to remind us all one detox session will NOT undo everything. There is a process she will continue at home on her own and we will get to watch her hair retain more and more moisture. I love getting to walk with my clients through establishing correct practices for their hair. 🖤🤞🏾

About the wedding hair I posted yesterday. This is my why. It’s really DEEPER THAN HAIR. I walk life and long with my clients. I’ve been sent into the beauty industry as an assignment from God and every once and a while he lets me feel the weight of what we are stewarding. 😭😭
