For all my clients it’s important for you to know how your lash shedding cycle works to get a better understanding of the health of your lashes and the reasons behind fall out.
There are 3 main phases:
1. Anagen- This is the first growth stage where your lashes are actively growing for around 30-45 days. Approximately 40% of your lashes are in this phase at any given time. Each lash will grow until a specific length and then stop ready for stage 2.
2. Catagen- This stage is when the lash reaches its desired length and stops growing, the follicle will then get smaller. You’re in the Catagen stage for 2-3 weeks. Should a lash fall out during this stage it won’t begin growing back until this phase has run its course.
3. Telogen- This is the resting phase and the final stage of the eyelash life cycle. At this point the lash has stopped growing and it’s preparing to shed, starting the growth cycle again. This phase will last up to 3 months.
