I have no dress code of course but today I wanted to do casual Jean Friday. Look complete with some vintage horse riding jeans, a salmon collared Dickey, and a full blown Russian split jump. 🙋♀️
When we talked about family pictures this year I told the kids I really just wanted everyone to feel like themselves. Most of them picked out everything they wore, down to their shoes and accessories, and some of it was stuff we already had. I found my husband’s yellow vest at an estate sale a few months ago and he was totally down to wear it as long as we kept it casual with some new Reebok tennies. 😂 I’ve been waiting to wear this sweet little vintage dress, plus the hat was another estate sale find. I love that we all go together but nobody really matches. Everyone still looks like themselves, which is pretty much what I love about style anyway. You don’t need to look like anyone else. You just need to feel like you.

I started thinking about this the other day…
We spend so much time decorating our homes. We carefully choose colors, textures, furniture, and little details because we want it to feel like us.
What if we approached getting dressed the same way?
Instead of searching for one more “perfect” piece, what if we thought about how everything works together to create something that feels like home… on us.
I kind of love thinking of getting dressed as decorating yourself. 🤍

What’s one thing you’d never wear?
A hat? Barrel jeans? Leopard shoes? White pants?
I hear “I’d never wear that” all the time, and I always think it’s interesting. Sometimes it’s because it truly isn’t your style…and sometimes it’s because you’ve only seen it one way.
Either way, I think those little “never” statements tell us a lot about our personal style.
