Journey with Aspen Lynn

Just coming on here to share a few pictures of my beautiful baby girl. 💕 Unfortunately, I don’t have much of an update tonight because the doctors never came by to give me one.

I have to say, I’m not a happy camper at all. 😔 When I got here around 5 PM, her nurse called the doctors and let them know that I wanted them to come by and speak with me, but here we are and still no one has come.

I’m extremely frustrated and honestly, it’s unreal. I understand that doctors are busy, but I deserve communication and updates about my child. I will definitely be making the necessary phone calls on Monday because this is not okay with me.

For tonight, I’m just going to focus on my sweet girl and enjoy these beautiful pictures of her. 💜 Please continue to keep Miss Aspen in your prayers. 🙏🏼💗

🙏🏻 1:30 AM UPDATE ON MISS ASPEN — PLEASE KEEP PRAYING 🙏🏻

Miss Aspen is wide awake at 1:30 in the morning! 💕 She’s actually had a pretty decent night so far, and we are so thankful for that.

During the daytime, they were able to take her down to 1L of oxygen, which is AMAZING to me! 🥹 Right now, I believe she is around 2–3L, and her oxygen saturations have been looking great. I’m hoping that means we may be able to start coming down on her bleed-in even more.

One of the plans for this morning was to possibly move her back to the IMU, but we’ll have to see how she continues to do throughout the night and into the morning. We are taking things one step at a time. 🙏🏻

Please keep my sweet girl in your prayers. Pray that her oxygen stays stable, her lungs continue to improve, and that she can keep making progress toward getting out of the PICU. Most importantly, please pray for God’s healing hand to continue covering her. 💗

🙏🏼 GOOD MORNING FROM ASPEN & MOMMY 🙏🏼

Good morning everyone from Miss Aspen and mommy. 💕 We’re taking things one moment at a time today.

Miss Aspen seems to be in pretty good spirits this morning. She’s had a few moments where she’s been a little fussy, but overall she seems happy and comfortable. 🥰

She has had a few episodes of desaturations, and these aren’t just little drops — they have been big drops. Thankfully, she has been coming right back up, but as her mommy, that is still very concerning and scary to watch. 💔

I’m thinking about asking her team if they would consider doing a CT of her head, just to make sure everything is okay in that area. At the same time, I’m honestly terrified of getting the scan and hearing results that aren’t what I’ve been praying for. 😔 But I also know that sometimes we have to face our fears and get the answers we need to make sure our babies are okay. We’ll see what the medical team thinks and what they recommend.

Please, please keep my girl in your prayers today. 🙏🏼 Pray that these desaturations settle down, that there is nothing new going on, and most importantly, that if they do any testing, we receive GOOD news. Pray for wisdom for her doctors and nurses and strength for mommy because this journey is not easy. ❤️‍🩹

Another unexpected turn for my sweet girl today…

Miss Aspen has been moved BACK TO THE PICU. 😭💔

I had actually left the hospital before rounds this morning because I needed to meet the people doing the floors in my room at home. When I left, Aspen was asleep peacefully and her oxygen saturation was sitting in the mid-90s, so I truly thought she was doing okay.

Between 7:20 AM and 10:20 AM, everything changed.

A little before noon, I got a call from her doctor telling me Aspen was going to be transferred back to the PICU. Of course, my first question was “WHY?” I was so confused because she had seemed fine when I left.

The doctor explained that while he was checking on her, Aspen’s oxygen saturation had dropped as low as 63. 😭 They had to make adjustments to her BiPAP, and unfortunately, anytime they have to mess with her BiPAP settings, she needs the closer monitoring that the PICU provides.

The pulmonary team also requested another chest X-ray, and it showed a little more fluid than yesterday. So now the PICU team is giving her some extra Lasix to help remove that fluid and hopefully make breathing a little easier for her.

ENT also has plans to remove one of her salivary glands to hopefully help with some of the issues she has been having with her secretions. There’s a much more medical term for it, but I’m keeping it simple because at the end of the day, all I care about is helping my baby breathe easier. 💗

And let me tell you something about this little girl…

SHE. DOES. NOT. GIVE. UP. 🥹💗

Aspen has been thrown battle after battle since the day she was born, and somehow this tiny little fighter continues to surprise her momma every single day.

There are moments when I feel scared. There are moments when I don’t understand why we keep having these setbacks. There are moments when I just want to scoop her up and make everything better.

But then I look at her… and I remember exactly who I’m fighting for. 🩷

So tonight, I NEED MY PRAYER WARRIORS. 🙏

Please pray for her oxygen to stabilize.
🙏 Pray for her lungs.
🙏 Pray that the extra fluid comes off.
🙏 Pray that the BiPAP adjustments help her.
🙏 Pray that her body responds to everything they are doing.
🙏 Pray for wisdom and guidance for every doctor and nurse caring for her.
🙏 And please pray for strength for my sweet girl.
