She sat in my chair before the dress, before the veil, before everything came together. In that moment, she was still getting ready for one of the biggest days of her life.

So I wasn’t trying to transform her. I wanted her husband to see her walking down that aisle. Her features, her smile, her beauty, just softly polished in a way that would carry her through every photograph, every tear, every hug and every moment she’d want to remember.

And then I saw this photo.

The dress is on. The veil is down. The morning is over. She’s a bride. And the makeup that started in my chair became part of a photograph she’ll have for the rest of her life.

That’s the part of bridal makeup I’ll never get over. I’m not just doing makeup for a day.
