Why did I wait for the two week follow up to treat my patient’s entire forehead? A few reasons:

1. It was my first time treating her and she has natural asymmetry. Her right eye/brow is naturally more hooded and her left side naturally sits higher. The first thing you notice is not her wrinkles, it’s her sassy brow that gives the impression that “she’s about to tell you what’s up!”

My first priority was to balance her brows without causing heaviness. It takes time to learn each individual’s face. I take time to create a personalized treatment plan for each patient.

2. The two week follow up appointment allowed me to assess if I could achieve full forehead treatment without causing heaviness. My gorgeous girl has naturally hooded eyelids. Going for a fully frozen forehead on her could easily result in lid heaviness. There is nothing worse than wanting to feel refreshed and confident and having your Tox kick in and make you look and feel tired or sad. I prefer to treat my patients conservatively as I learn their face. I can always add more, but I can’t take it back out!

3. The goals isn’t always softening lines and wrinkles. Sometimes the minor changes in how muscles are pulling create the biggest impact. Example: In the slide showing her frown muscles, you can see that she is recruiting from her nose. I was able to add units to that area to give her even better results! Her “bunny lines” on her nose weren’t concerning to her, but the compensatory muscle pull from that area was preventing her from getting optimal results in an area that WAS a concern for her.

So here is my soap box…

For patients: Trust the process and make your two week follow up a priority because that is how we learn your face! Maybe your injector didn’t “botch you,” maybe they just need the opportunity to learn what works for your face so they can create the prefect treatment plan for you!

For newer injectors: Take it slow, less is more, forget “template or pattern injecting” know your anatomy and trust what you SEE, build trust, TAKE PICTURES, take good notes.

Say it with me now: MEN GET FILLER TOO!!!!!

If the girl mom post made you cry, try this one on for size…

I am a girl mom. I’m a girl’s girl. I love treating women and reminding them of the beautiful goddesses they are.

But I’m also a boy mom. And I just happen to be wildly in love with and married to a man, so as hard as this world is trying to make me a man-hater right now, I could never fully commit. 😂

I think there’s a common misconception that men don’t care about their appearance.

They do.

But I also think men are far less likely to actually do something about an insecurity because somewhere along the way, caring about how you look or admitting that something bothers you became associated with being less masculine.

And maybe some men genuinely don’t care. But sometimes “I don’t care” is just an easier thing to say than “I’m insecure about this.”

The truth is, man or woman, when you feel confident, healthy, and comfortable in your own skin, you tend to show up differently in the world. A little kinder. A little less judgmental. And a lot more likely to enjoy your own life.

I’m not saying filler = happiness.

I’m saying taking care of yourself, in whatever way feels right to you, without fear of someone else’s judgment, has a funny way of trickling goodness into the rest of your life.

And as a boy mom, I hope my son grows up so secure in his masculinity that he never feels like he has to perform it for anyone.

I hope when his daughter asks to paint his nails, he hands her the polish.

I hope he gets on the dance floor at a wedding and air-guitars his heart out.

I hope he never feels like he has to hide an insecurity behind apathy because caring would somehow make him less of a man.

And if one day he looks in the mirror and thinks, damn, these under-eyes are making me look tired…

I hope he calls his mom.

Because taking care of yourself isn’t feminine.

It’s human.

Dear Girl Mom,

If you happen to pass your face down to someone you love, let this be your reminder to speak kindly to and about the woman you see in the mirror.

We all have insecurities. But when you look at that perfect human you created, wearing your eyes, your smile, your features, I’m willing to bet there isn’t a thing you would change.

Every time we criticize something for being too big, too wrinkled, or too saggy, our daughters hear us. And, little by little, our criticism can become their internal monologue.

I know this may sound like a strange message coming from someone who alters faces for a living. But I’m not only an aesthetic nurse. I’m also the mother of a beautiful young woman walking around this world wearing my face. And sometimes I need reminding, because body dysmorphia is a bitch and she’s coming for our kids.

How do I justify changing things about my own face when I look at hers and wouldn’t change a single thing?

To me it’s about perspective and intention. There is a way to approach aesthetics from a place of self-love, and there is a way to approach it from a place of self-loathing.

Example: I exercise because I love feeling healthy and strong, not because I hate my body. I take care of my skin and choose aesthetic treatments because this body is my home, and I’m allowed to care for it, decorate it, and enjoy living in it however I want.

You can change something and still love yourself.
You can leave it alone and still love yourself.
You can age and still be beautiful.
You can care about how you look without teaching your daughter (or your inner child) that her appearance determines her worth.

The key is perspective, intention, moderation, and having someone you trust that will check you if things get out of hand (If you’re my patient, I will be your person!)

Anyway, that’s just something I’ve been thinking about and consciously trying to be better about so I thought I’d share with ya’ll incase anyone needed a little reminder 🫶🏼

Tired-looking eyes aren’t always just an under-eye issue!

A refreshed, well-rested look often takes a multi-faceted approach, restoring support through the temples and midface while improving volume, hydration, and skin quality around the eyes.

Depending on your anatomy, your treatment plan may combine Filler, Biostimulators like Sculptra or Radiesse, SkinVive, and PRF EZ Gel to subtly restore what’s been lost and help you look brighter, smoother, and more rested without changing what makes you, you!

Filler doesn’t have to be scary! In the hands of the right artist (and certified, licensed, medical professional) adding subtle volume with strategic placement can help improve balance to your already gorgeous features.

The chin is in, babe! You want to be snatched? Optimized? Balanced? You come let me work my magic!

Some days I look around and I am overcome with gratitude. This whole journey has been wildly more fulfilling, exciting, and honestly, better than anything I ever could have imagined.

I started out alone in this beautiful, empty space with a dream and absolutely no idea just how special it would become.

I’ve had more love, help, and support from friends and family than any one person deserves. The beautiful humans who have walked through these doors to help move furniture, hang wallpaper, be my temporary assistants (and sanity), train alongside me, participate in book clubs and sound baths, become patients, become friends, and eventually become part of my everyday work life are so incredibly special to me.

This space may have started as mine, but it became what it is because of all of you.

I am so deeply grateful for every single person who has supported me, trusted me, encouraged me, and helped bring Goodjuju to life.

You made all of this possible.

I really am the luckiest girl in the world.

We are so excited to officially share this space with Lumera Skin & Laser ✨ and we can’t wait to find out what the universe has in store for all of us. I have entrusted my face to Caitlin for all things laser and skincare for almost 8 years now! If you are my patient and haven’t had the pleasure of being treated by her, now is the time!

Huge shout out (as always) to Moxie | Built for Aesthetic Practice Leaders because even though I started out physically alone in this space, they have had my back from day one!

No gatekeeping around here! I’ve done pretty much every non-surgical thing that I’ve had access to!

Working in the industry certainly has its perks, but it also can be a massive pitfall into overdoing it due to easy access. I try to keep it as natural looking as possible while toeing the line of not having lines on my face. 😂

I think the key to keeping the glow up as natural looking as possible is treating your skin with consistency but treating the approach like a buffet, a little bit of everything and not too much of one thing.

It’s also important to acknowledge how much life-style has played a role in this glow up. 2015 Julie was working night shift on a trauma tele floor, travel nursing, mom-ing so hard it hurt with 2 littles, surviving on Diet Coke, not wearing spf, and had a non existent skin care routine.

2026 Julie has much better work life balance (I could still probably stand to prioritize my sleep a little more tbh), older/adult kids who don’t need as much of my daily attention, access to top medical grade aesthetic everything, and a healthy relationship with my water intake balanced with the occasional mini fridge cig as a treat.

I share this to show you what’s possible with consistent, thoughtful treatments and to make aesthetic treatments less scary for anyone who is afraid of looking weird or overdone. Unless you think I look overdone 😂 to which I would say…..have you ever been to Scottsdale?

*laser tattoo removal is the most painful thing I’ve ever had done aesthetically but it was still 💯 worth it!

There is a little over a year between these two photos.
A lot has changed. A new job, new apartment, weight loss, consistent Tox Booster Treatment (VI Peel + Tox), consistent Microneedling, PRF EZ Gel under eyes, temple filler, lip dissolve and refresh. I think if you were to ask our darling Raquel what the biggest difference is between these two photos, her answer would be -
joy, balance, and focusing on self care and consistency.

Everyone sits in my chair, looks at Raquel, and says, “I want you to make me look like HER!” This woman is undeniably naturally gorgeous, but she is also consistent with her treatments and committed to her treatment plan. If you want your skin to glow and your eyes to shine, you have to do the work! And it’s not all achieved at the end of a needle. It’s diet, working out, a home skin care routine with medical grade products, sun avoidance, daily spf, it’s speaking kindly to yourself and making yourself a priority.

Results don’t have to be a one and done complete overhaul. A thoughtful treatment plan carried out with consistency yields beautiful, natural results. She’s proof!
