Anyone whose turned their passion into a business will tell you how suddenly, that same passion is only 5% of what you get to do now. I fondly look at these throwbacks to the few moments when I get to be in my element, just making the art that I love with the products that have taken all my love.
While its so hard to admit when change is necessary, I feel myself slowly getting to my stop on this beautifully enchanting ride of mine. Those of you that know me personally know that this empower project is one of the many incredibly demanding cookie jars my hand is stuck inside. While I've definitely improved my juggling skills, it truly takes every ounce of my effort to keep all the balls in the air. To put it simply, I'm exhausted.
When trying to decide what these feelings mean for all of us, my soul sista friends said it perfectly, "this is the the new format for ethical businesses, recognizing we are humans with needs, families and other passions. Soon we will see the normalization of a new model that doesn't rely on constant availability and resource consumption, but a new vision of ethical business where breaks are usual and 12 hr. work days will no longer be glorified as "what you gotta do to make it" because we too are a finite resource". I've latched on to this ideal and have decided to respond to the ebb and flow, going along willingly as opposed to struggling against the current every step. This is simply a pause ⏸, not an end, and I so look forward to the day when my heart, mind and time realign.
I'll still be operating in some capacity, supporting and restocking current wholesalers and taking custom orders anytime. Our festival booth is too much fun to let go, so the Soulful Salon will live forever! However, these next few weeks I'll be restocking my inventory one last time for the next little while, so do not wait to get your favorites.
To my friends and family, I'm so grateful to the incredible support and energy you've given me and this project. There is no way any of this would have been possible without you. Keep your phones close! I'll be reaching out soon to get some of that long overdue quality time in soon, damn I've missed you
