I say it all the time:
Work with your body, not against it.

And I think for some of you, that’s starting to sound like a nice wellness phrase.

So let me make it concrete.

Here’s what it actually means inside EmpowerHER:

1. RESTORE

Before we aggressively pursue fat loss, we look at what’s getting in the way.
Nutrition
Protein
Gut health
Sleep
Stress
Recovery
Hormones.

2. ASSESS
We don't guess when there’s a reason to look deeper
We look at your symptoms, history, habits and, when appropriate, functional testing to understand what your body is actually doing.

3. RESPOND
Once the foundation is stronger, we strategically adjust nutrition, training and the things that need attention.

Now we're working WITH your physiology instead of constantly fighting it.

4. BUILD
We build strength, muscle, metabolic capacity and habits you can actually maintain.

5. INTEGRATE
And eventually, this becomes your life.
Not another diet
Not another 30-day challenge
Not starting over every Monday
And THEN fat loss can become a goal when it makes sense for your body.

Notice what isn't on the list:

Starvation
Punishing cardio
Detoxes
Cutting out everything you love
Magic supplements

The goal isn't to see how little you can eat or how much you can force yourself to do.
The goal is to build a body that can actually respond.

That's what I mean when I say:
Work with your body, not against it.

It's not a slogan
It's a process
And the order matters.

What’s the story you’ve been telling yourself about your body?

Because every woman has one.

Maybe yours is:

I have no willpower
It’s my hormones. There’s nothing I can do about this weight gain
I’m too far gone
I’ve tried everything. Nothing works for my body
I can lose the weight… but I’ll just gain it back anyway.

Or maybe it’s harder to admit:
I don’t recognize myself anymore

But here’s what I want you to consider…
A conclusion isn’t the same thing as an explanation.

You tried a diet and it didn’t work → I lack discipline
You exercised harder and your body still didn’t respond → my metabolism is broken
You lost the weight and gained it back → I can’t maintain results.

Your doctor said your labs are normal but you still feel exhausted, bloated and unlike yourself → I guess this is just aging.

But what if there’s more to the story?

Maybe you don't lack discipline
Maybe the approach wasn't right for your body
Maybe your body doesn't need more punishment
Maybe it needs more nourishment, recovery, muscle, sleep…

Or a deeper look at what's actually happening.

Maybe you’re not broken
Maybe you’ve just never had someone help you put all the pieces together.

So I want to know:
What’s the story you’ve been telling yourself about your body?

Drop it in the comments.

No judgment.

And especially if your answer is:

I’ve tried everything and I don’t think anything will work for me anymore.

Tell me that one.

Because sometimes the belief that nothing will work is the very thing we need to start questioning first. ā¤ļø

Someone recently said something about my physique looking the way it does because I’m a trainer.

That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Have you seen some of the trainers out there? šŸ˜‚

Most do not look like me.

My body reflects 16 years of intentional eating
16 years of intentional lifting with progressive overload
It reflects my bodybuilding lifestyle

And I think that’s something that needs to be understood.

Just because your coach or trainer looks a certain way doesn’t mean you will too.

Most of my clients don’t want to be bodybuilders
They don’t have an interest in the precision required with nutrition.
They don’t want to lift to failure
And honestly, many don’t want to prioritize the level of recovery required to build a physique like mine

And that’s totally fine!

Most women simply want to feel better
Have more energy
Feel stronger
Fit into their clothes better
Feel confident in their bodies
And live their lives without constantly thinking about their weight and food.

They don’t need to become bodybuilders to accomplish those things.

And just because I am one doesn’t mean that’s how I coach my clients.

My job isn’t to make you look like me
My job is to help you become the healthiest, strongest, most confident version of YOU.

Your goals should determine your program,
Not my physique
Not Instagram
And definitely not someone else’s definition of what your body should look like.

Because there is nothing wrong with wanting a different body
But there is also nothing wrong with wanting a different life.

What a weekend!

The Olympia! I watched the televised women’s show on Friday. What a show! Definitely did not disappoint in the entertainment department!

Our exchange student had a soccer game where they defended well against an aggressive team.

I attended a gala and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Salt and Light Christian Counseling with my son. So much fun and it was so great to hear how many compliments he got on how great he looked!

Guys need that too!

One thing I didn’t have to worry about the whole weekend, though…

Was my nutrition.

Utilizing meal prep and front-loading protein ensures that I stay on track while still being able to enjoy some freedom when life gets busy.

No choices made out of hunger desperation because there isn’t any.
No stressing about having to take next-day check-in photos
No stressing about being off plan
No guilt about being bad.

Just food that supports me, prepared ahead of time, so I can actually enjoy my life.

And THAT is what I want for my clients.

Not a life where you're constantly thinking about food
Not a life where one meal out makes you feel like you screwed everything up.
Not a life where you have to choose between reaching your goals and enjoying your weekend.

I want you to have the knowledge and the SYSTEMS to make nutrition fit INTO your life…

Instead of your life revolving around nutrition.

Because the goal was never to be perfect.

The goal is to be able to live your life without food controlling it.

I had to let a trainer go recently.

Not because she wasn’t good at her job,
She actually was very, very good at what she did.

The problem was communication.

And that matters.

A lot.

I’ve let clients go for the same reason.

Because when you’re in the business of health, communication is vital.
I can’t help you if I don’t know what’s going on.
I can’t adjust your plan if you don’t tell me what isn’t working.
I can’t adjust the schedule if you don’t communicate that you aren’t going to be there.

And I’ve let clients go because of repeatedly not following through with what I was asking and what we had AGREED to do.

Not because I’m a dictator.

Because I can’t help someone who won’t allow me to help them
And if I can’t help you, I don’t want your money.

That’s actually part of my integrity.

But here’s the thing…
I hold myself to the same standard.

I’ve recently stepped away from a leadership position inside another business because I recognized that I wasn’t performing at the level I knew I was capable of.

It wasn’t because I suddenly became bad at what I did
It was because I knew I wasn’t showing up at the level the position deserved.

And walking away was hard
But sometimes integrity means being honest with yourself, too.

The same goes for how we operate as a team.

How we show up doesnt only affect yourself
You’re affecting other people’s time
You affect others perception....
And eventually, that behavior becomes the culture.

That’s not the culture I want to build.

Some of our core values are respect and integrity.

And those aren't just words we put on a wall
They show up in how we communicate
How we treat people’s time
How we follow through
How we take responsibility
And how we handle things when we realize we need to do better.

Accountability?
That starts with you.

And sometimes accountability means holding someone else to a standard.
And sometimes it means looking in the mirror and holding yourself to one too.

09/23/2026

Sometimes I get pushback on consultation calls.

Why can’t I just pay you for a lab review?
Why can’t I see you once every couple of months?

That’s how traditional functional medicine works.

Well, darling…
I’m not your traditional functional medicine practitioner. šŸ˜‰

I’ve been doing this long enough to know that information alone doesn't create change.

I can review your labs
Tell you what’s off
Give you a list of supplements, foods and things to work on.

And then what?

You go home with a giant homework assignment and try to figure it all out yourself.

Where’s the education?
Where’s the accountability?
Where’s the support when something doesn’t go as planned?

Or maybe we meet every 2–3 months.

Maybe you implement the plan… or maybe you don't.

You have a question
You have a reaction
Something isn't working,
And now you wait another 12 weeks to address it.

How is that helping you?

My approach is different.
You have access to weekly office hours where we can talk through what’s working, what isn't and what your next step should be.

You have messaging support

And because you're plugged into my system, I can see your habits, your nutrition, your sleep, your steps and whether you're actually implementing the things we've identified for you.

That's the difference.

It's accountability
It's education
It's support
It's guidance

And it's you taking responsibility for your health.

And honestly?
That last one isn't the sexiest selling point.

But it's one of the most important,
Because long-term health doesn't come from getting a list of recommendations every few months.

It comes from learning how to understand your body, make changes, see what happens and adjust along the way.

That's why I don't just offer lab reviews,
And that's why I can't simply see you every few months.

I don't want to hand you a report,
I want to teach you how to actually use the information.

I’ve been talking a lot lately about fatigue and recovery.

About not wearing your lack of rest like a badge of honor;
There’s a reason for that.

So many of our clients come to us over-performing and under-recovering.

And that combination can make body composition, energy and hormone balance a whole lot harder.

But this topic is also very close to my heart.

Because I lived that badge of honor for years.

Actually… decades.

I was a mom
I was single
I had to provide
There wasn’t time to eat
There definitely wasn’t time to sleep.

When I started personal training, I thought having control over my schedule would help.
Instead, I was up early, home late and often absorbing the emotional weight of women who hated their bodies during our sessions.

Eventually, the fatigue became excruciating.

I fell asleep in my car at stoplights
I slept through school pickups
My body was screaming for rest.

Eventually, I got to a place where I could actually slow down and give my body the recovery it desperately needed.

I learned to set boundaries around work and protect my sleep.

And honestly?
The thought of ever reaching that level of exhaustion again scares me.

So now, as my hormones shift through perimenopause and my sleep gets affected, it can bring up a LOT for me.

I know the tools that can help,
I’m grateful for everything I’ve spent years learning about hormones and nutrition because I understand what’s happening and I know I’m supporting my body.

But that doesn’t mean it’s easy,
I’m still learning grace.

Grace to recognize that some days I need more rest than others
Grace to understand that needing rest doesn't mean I’m failing
It means my body is asking for more recovery.

And in a world that constantly measures our worth by our productivity…
That can be a pretty massive mindset shift.

You don't get extra credit for running yourself into the ground.

Sometimes taking care of yourself means doing less,
And that counts, too.

FAST ISN’T WORKING.

I want to challenge something you’ve probably believed your whole life:

Faster is better.

Lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks
21-day shred
6-week transformation
30-day hormone reset
Quick detox

We’ve been trained to want results NOW.

But here’s the problem:
Fast is often the reason you’re still stuck.

You want to lose 25 pounds
So you choose the fastest option:

Eat less
Exercise more
Cut everything out
Push harder

And yes…
It works.

For a little while.

Then you get hungry
Exhausted
Burned out

So You stop.

The weight comes back,
And six months later, you’re looking for the next fast fix.

You’ve spent YEARS doing this.

Think about that.

Years of 4-week programs
Years of 6-week challenges
Years of starting over

What if instead you had spent that time building something you could actually maintain?

That is the part nobody sells you.

The slow way isn't actually slow,
It's the way you do once.

You build muscle
You learn how to fuel your body
You improve sleep and recovery
You address the things getting in the way
You lose fat without destroying yourself
Then you learn how to keep it.

Stop asking:
How fast can I lose it?

Start asking:
How can I make sure I never have to lose it again?

Those are two VERY different questions
And they lead to very different outcomes.

Fat loss is a phase.
Building a healthy, resilient body is the goal.
