Congratulations to Nikita Fleming – our July 2026 DAISY Award Honoree!

Ms. Fleming, an LPN in the Urology Clinic at the Salem VA Medical Center, took initiative to coordinate detailed travel arrangements & travel compensation for a Veteran - to ensure they had transportation to and from vital appointments that worked best with their schedule.

Fleming showed exceptional dedication to Veteran care and comfort – making several phone calls for the Veteran to simplify an intricate process – allowing the Veteran to focus on their day-to-day life.

The Veteran who received support from Fleming nominated her for the DAISY Award.

“I am so thankful that there are nurses at the VA who will go the extra mile and make sure the Veterans have what they need,” the Veteran wrote in their nomination.
