A hard no doesn’t have to end the conversation.

When teens feel heard, they’re more likely to stay connected—even when the answer is no.

Parenting teens and young adults is hard.

These “hills I’ll die on” can be especially hard to practice when you’re worried, frustrated, exhausted, or feeling like you’re getting it wrong.

Parents don’t struggle because they don’t care—they struggle because they care so much.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s coming back to connection, curiosity, and repair.

If you sometimes feel overwhelmed or unsure, you’re in the right place.

Follow along for reminders, tools, and encouragement for navigating this season with more confidence and connection 🤍

Sometimes we notice anxiety in our bodies first.

A headache.
A tight jaw.
A sore neck.
A heavy chest.
An upset stomach.

These physical signs can be clues that we’re overwhelmed or on high alert.

Noticing what’s happening in our bodies can be the first step toward understanding what we need.

🤍 What’s one way anxiety tends to show up in your body?

“I’m just going to let it go.” 😅

If only it were that simple.

For many people with anxiety, “just letting it go” isn’t actually what happens. Instead, it can turn into overthinking, self-criticism, replaying conversations, avoiding situations, or trying to push the thought away—which often makes it stick around even longer.

Instead, try this:

1️⃣ Name what’s bothering you.
“I can’t stop thinking about what I said at the party.” (Hello, self-criticism.)

2️⃣ Come back to your body.
Feel your feet on the ground. Take a couple of slow breaths. Remember you are here in the present, not back at the party.

3️⃣ Choose your next step.
Do something that’s healthy and moves you toward what matters to you, even if the anxious thoughts are still there.

The goal isn’t to make the thought disappear. It’s to stop letting it run the show.

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “I’m just going to let it go,” only to think about it all day? 🙋‍♀️

We often think of anxiety as racing thoughts, overthinking, or avoiding things. All valid…

But did you know that anxiety often shows up in our bodies first?

A headache.
A tight jaw.
A sore neck.
A heavy chest.
An upset stomach.

These signs can be our body telling us that something is off.

Noticing what we experience in our bodies is the first step toward greater awareness of what’s going on with our emotions.

🤍 Which of these do you notice when you’re feeling stressed or anxious?

I think we’ve thought about it enough for one week. 🤍
