Have you ever watched a documentary or read a book that completely changed the course of your life?

For us, it was The Minimalists Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things. We watched it in 2017 - and without it, I’m not sure ZenStream Botanicals or our sister company, Bearded Buddha Grooming Co., would exist today.

In this podcast clip, my husband Travis, founder of Bearded Buddha Grooming Co., shares how that documentary changed our direction, the philosophy behind our brands, and how we came up with the name ZenStream.

He says:

“Put a speed bump between what’s coming at you and how you react to it.”

Mindfulness, awareness and the importance of creating space before we react - these ideas were also deeply influenced by this documentary.

It brings to mind one of the most meaningful quotes I’ve encountered, most often attributed to Viktor E. Frankl:

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

That space - the pause before we react—can make the difference between chaos and peace.
