As the cost of care has changed dramatically over the years, pet care requires a different approach for many pet owners. Whether that is a pet savings account, pet insurance, payment plans like Scratch Pay and Care Credit or Non-Profit's like Inside Voice.

The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce welcomed new member Inside Voice with an Ambassadors’ ribbon cutting Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Inside Voice offers assistance with emergency veterinary care for dogs and cats. They also provide help for chronic issues, prescriptions, dental and palliative care. DeeDee developed sudden onset glaucoma in her left eye likely due to a lens luxation.

Eye drops were unfortunately ineffective for her treatment and her eye pressures continued to increase, leading to the loss of vision in her left eye and pain.

She did great for her surgery and we are also happy to see her smile!

Miles was the perfect boy today!

He was updated on his annual vaccines including Bordetella (AKA Kennel Cough) and Leptospirosis.

Many of you are familiar with Kennel Cough but what about Lepto??

Lepto is a spirochete shed into the environment from the urine of wildlife and other animals. When dogs get sick with lepto their kidneys and liver malfunction and they can even die. Not only that, but they can also spread lepto to their loving human caretakers too!

The American Animal Hospital Association updated vaccine guidelines in 2024 to include lepto as a core vaccine, meaning all dogs should be vaccinated due to increasing geographical prevalence.

🌞😎🌞With high temperatures in the area it's important to BE AWARE of the risks of HEAT STROKE in our pets.

Heat stroke can result in multiorgan dysfunction, affecting the GI tract, kidneys, heart, lungs, central nervous system and ability to keep blood where its intended to be.

Heat stroke occurs in two forms, non-exertional and exertional

Non-exertional ---> attributed to environmental conditions such as today's hot outside temperatures. DO NOT take your pet in a hot cars, DO NOT leave your pet in the yard without adequate shade or water

Exertional ---> Today is not the day for outside activity - do not plan a long walk, avoid throwing the ball for your dog, it's best to go another day

Plan to keep your pet indoors where it's nice and cool. Let them outside for brief periods of time to use the bathroom.

Increased risk factors include confinement and poor ventilation, pets with obesity or increased weight, pets with history of heart disease, conditions like laryngeal paralysis, or certain popular brachycephalic breeds like french bulldogs, english bulldogs, pugs, boston terriers, and shih tzus not to mention dark colored haircoats.

Keep your pets safe. Stay indoors. Know the risks. Be aware
