Brains And Beauty

I think she would look at you now with those same hopeful eyes and wonder how you became the person she used to dream of becoming.

She would see how many times
you had to begin again.

And I think she would be amazed that somehow, through all of it, you never completely lost your softness.

You still love.
You still hope.
You still believe that good things can find you.
You still look toward heaven when your heart doesn’t know where else to look.

Maybe you’re so busy looking at everything you haven’t become yet that you forget to honor everything you’ve already survived.

But little you remembers the dreams.
She remembers the prayers.
She remembers the things you once whispered,
“Someday, I hope I get to…”

And now, here you are.

Not with a perfect life.
Not with every prayer answered.
Not exactly where you thought you’d be.

But here.
Still becoming.
Still believing.
Still here.

And if little you could sit beside you today, I think she wouldn’t ask you to be more.

She’d simply hold your hand and say,
“I’m so proud of you for making it this far.”

And maybe, for once, you should be proud of you, too. 🤍
