Fewer ingredients are not automatically “better,” but every ingredient in a formula should have a reason to be there. This 2022 paper is one of the more useful tallow skincare studies because it measured hydration on human forearms. Some experimental mutton-tallow emulsions increased Corneometer-measured hydration, but the formulas with more tallow were not automatically preferred for greasiness, absorption, or spreading. The lesson I love: “contains tallow” is not enough. Good skincare is formulation.

Sacred Meadow is not “tallow plus random extras.” Each ingredient was chosen with a formulation role in mind. Tallow creates the rich balm base. Jojoba helps the texture spread. Lavender and frankincense contribute the botanical aroma and each has its own research literature. Turmeric brings another well-studied botanical component. We still judge the finished product as a formula-not as five separate miracle ingredients.
