The oil goes into the jar clear and gold. It comes out green.
Nothing is added to do that. The colour is the plant leaving the leaf. Chlorophyll and the carotenoids are fat soluble, so they move into the oil and stay there.
The colour is not decoration. It is the visible part of an extraction you otherwise cannot see happening. Rose petals give a different colour again. You can tell the jars apart across the room.
Guess which herb makes the greenest oil.

Moringa & Tulsi, slowly infused as whole herbs, letting real plants do what they do best for your skin.
There is an oil in the face cream that takes a tonne of fruit to make one litre.
Prickly pear. The oil is not in the flesh, it is in the seeds, and the seeds are tiny. About thirty kilos of seed for a single litre, and roughly eight hours of pressing to get it.
That is why it is one of the most expensive plant oils in the world, and why it goes in by the drop, not the cup. It is bought in, not grown here. The moringa and the echinacea in that jar are ours.
Which ingredient in your skincare do you actually know the origin of?
At the heart of this balm are moringa leaf and holy basil (tulsi), slowly infused into apricot kernel and grapeseed oils, then blended with mango butter, kaolin clay, beeswax, and vitamin E.
The result is deeply cleansing with a naturally herby, earthy aroma.
No synthetic fragrance. No harsh chemicals. No essential oils.
Just whole botanicals and thoughtfully chosen ingredients.
Each balm comes with a wooden cosmetic spatula for easy, mess-free application.
Made slowly. Made simply. Made with plants.

Turn your cleansing balm over. What is the first ingredient?
A cleansing balm should be simple: an oil to dissolve makeup and something to make it solid. We compared seven well-known jars side by side and sorted every label into the same four jobs, so you can see exactly which choice each maker made.
Polyethylene, PEGs, mineral oil, fragrance, preservatives: what each one does, and a ten-second test for any label.

What to Avoid in a Cleansing Balm: An Herbalist's Honest Guide | InVine Botanicals Polyethylene, PEG emulsifiers, mineral oil, fragrance, preservatives: what each does in a cleansing balm, which well-known jars contain it, and what to pick.

What makes a cleansing balm a balm?
In a lot of the best-known jars, the answer is polyethylene, a plastic polymer that thickens the oils. It works, it is legal, and plenty of people would still rather skip it.
So we read the Clinique Take The Day Off label honestly: nine ingredients, no fragrance, very good at its job. Then we compared it with a balm set with mango butter and beeswax instead, and were plain about the trade (theirs turns milky in water; ours rinses or wipes off with a warm cloth).
Rinse-off or warm cloth: which are you?
A Natural Alternative to Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm | InVine Botanicals Clinique Take The Day Off is a synthetic ester, safflower oil, emulsifiers, and polyethylene. An honest comparison with a waterless moringa and tulsi balm.

Did your mother have a jar of cold cream on her dresser?
Scoop, massage, tissue off. It is one of the gentlest ways to take the day off, and it is far older than the jar: the original cold cream was just plant oil, beeswax, and rose water.
So we read the modern label honestly (mineral oil, water, wax, fragrance), gave it the credit it has earned, and compared it with a cleansing balm made from garden moringa, tulsi, and beeswax.

A Natural Alternative to Pond's Cold Cream (And Why It Matters) | InVine Botanicals Pond's Cold Cream is mineral oil, water, wax, and fragrance. An honest comparison with a wipe-off cleansing balm of garden moringa, tulsi, and beeswax.
That is not one flower. It is hundreds of them.
What looks like a single coneflower is a capitulum, a head packed with many separate flowers. The straps around the edge are not petals. Each strap is its own flower, called a ray floret. The dome in the middle is hundreds more, called disc florets.
Daisies, sunflowers and dandelions are all built this way. Every coneflower in the bed is a crowd.
