I just met and massaged an incredible woman! Janis was nominated by her hospice worker to receive a “dream” come true!

She said she’s already traveled and already done so many amazing things, but what she really wanted?? For someone to come and do an in-home massage for her at her home in the country!!

Dream Foundation is kind of like Make-a-Wish, but for those on hospice care. And my heartfelt “Thank you!” goes to Brooke from Dream Foundation for connecting me and Janis! Brooke asked me if I would be willing to donate an in-home massage for Janis, and I was so happy to be able to do that!

We had to make a few adjustments, but we made it just fine! I gave Janis a 90 minute massage and she says she feels much better! She was even able to receive the whole 90 minute massage without her oxygen supply line! She says she should be able to sleep better now (she often deals with chest pain in the night due to her condition). And I surely hope so! She said she hasn’t felt that relaxed in 10 years! And I’m just so happy for her!!!

But here’s what Janis didn’t know until I told her afterwards when I was about to leave.

I wanted to do the massage before, but once I saw her name and read of her heart condition, I felt as though God Himself was giving this opportunity, this blessing, to me personally.

Most ladies I’ve met with that name are spelled JanICE, but this wonderful lady’s name was spelled JanIS. … exactly like my mother’s name.

It’s been over 6 years since my mother (Janis Blair) has passed. And she passed from the same heart conditions from which this sweet Janis also suffers! And what is particularly heartbreaking for me is that I never got the chance to say goodbye to my Momma before she passed. She passed before I became a massage therapist, and so I unfortunately never got to gift her a massage as a professional.

And so when I massaged her, and when I hugged this sweet (also brown-eyed) Janis today on her front porch, I didn’t feel like it was so much her dream that was fulfilled as it was mine. 🤍🤍🤍

Truly, Jesus was right. “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

I am forever grateful to Janis for this blessing!
