Today, Unity Health Care was proud to host , Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS), at our East of the River Health Center.

During the visit, we shared how Medicaid and community health centers work together to improve health outcomes, reduce barriers to care, and meet patients where they are. From primary care and behavioral health to enabling services and care coordination, community health centers play a vital role in helping individuals and families access the care they need.

Thank you for taking the time to hear directly from our team and patients about the impact of Medicaid and the importance of sustaining access to care in our communities.

We were pleased to host Councilmember Henderson and her team at Unity's Anacostia Health Center. She was able to tour our new prescription pharmacy and our new food pharmacy, as well as visit our primary care and dental care suites. The visit highlighted how we’re expanding whole-person care in our community.

We are grateful for Councilmember Henderson's continued partnership and engagement on health care issues that are important to both Unity and our patients here in the District.

In honor of Black History Month, Unity Health Care CEO, Rashad A. Collins joined fellow champions of community wellness for the Wellness in the Ward discussion in Wards 7 & 8. He spoke on the importance of preventative care and strong community connections:
"Only 20% of a person’s health needs can be met in the exam room, making community connection essential."
