Hello there… it seems it a new year & we haven’t been through to check on our people or even say Happy New Year! (How rude!) Please forgive us & also can you believe there’s only one more Friday left in January 2022???
•••
Where has the time gone?
If I’m honest January felt 30 days free trial period. So who’s set their intentions & goals for the year?
Let’s talk moisture retention!
-
Your kinks, coils, curls are not bad…
There just dry, possibly dehydrated. Not retaining moisture because you haven’t learned your hair porosity. If you’ve been natural for awhile, you may be familiar with the word and what it means. You may have even tried that at home “junk science”porosity test to figure out yours.
If you’re new to this journey… don’t worry. I got you. There’s a bunch of info out about hair porosity and the natural hair journey but we’re thrilled to get you started here.
-
What is porosity?
-
(Hair) porosity is your hair’s ability to retain moisture after absorbing water. Making porosity perhaps even more important than knowing your hair texture type.
-
Interesting how lack of knowledge about what I hair needs to be healthy was translated to “bad hair”!
-
Let’s dive into this more later.
For now, do you know your hair porosity?
Share in the comment section and share your moisture retention method. You never who may learn from your process.

Crowned with Curls 👑
New logo… who dis?
We’re keeping the signature Moi kiss/lips but we had so much fun creating a crown out of the letter “M”… for our hero product, Crowned with Curls that we’re deciding to keep it for rebranding. Can you spot the “M”?
•
Side Note: Did you know there are 7 types of logos? Each of them operate differently so it’s not uncommon for a business to have more than one. Here are the 7 types listed below.
1. Monogram
2. Wordmarks
3. Pictorial marks
4. Abstract logo marks
5. Mascots
6. The combination mark
7. The emblem
We are Crowned with Curls
Too long, we let the world
Define our beauty
We wear braids,
beads, fros, weaves
Gon’ & adorn it as you please
Let them envy our divinity
✨
The crown of our head represents our relationship to our higher self, enlightenment & spiritual connection. It lifts and inspires us to adorn it. Our crown is our connection to the divine (our God connection.) It gives us a sense of our own divinity, the awareness that we are a soul in a human body. The crown is the only chakra outside of the physical body and for those of us with gravity-defying locks how we protect our crown of curls, our energy antennas, is spiritual practice worthy of the utmost care, attention & detail. How dare we take on any lie told to us to diminish our inherent divinity. 💜
Well hello fall…
•
Full disclosure…We are still figuring out our relaunch. Normalizing “luxury” as THE standard that’s inherent to our natural being. Shifting our mindset to prioritize self care & wellness specifically to honor our divineness and the beauty of our blackness.
Starting with the Crown. 👑
•
Our handcrafted soften & seal balm definitely honors our beautiful crown!

I wanna do something for my daughter with you guys help… she’s turning 18 this week. She’s an amazing emerging artist. We began the Crowned with Curls graphic novel series for young brown girls crowned with curls awhile ago. She hasn’t been inspired to finish it. As a matter of fact she’s just not with it anymore. So I’m deciding as a gift to her and others that need this story… I wanna finish it with as many stories from other brown girls as possible and publish it as a dedication and gift to her. To encourage her to know how necessary her story and gifts are… especially to other young ppl.
•
So if you haven’t already… I posted the first chapter/episode and I’d love to hear your middle school, elementary, high school… coming of age stories of feeling pressured to or wanting to straighten you kinks, curls because believe it or not we all have similar stories that did not encourage us or teach us how beautiful or how to appropriately care for our natural kinks, curls & coils. Finish the story or share yours so that I can publish this for my daughter and other type 4 brown girls & boys with curls!
