We envision a Commonwealth of authentic inclusion where racism and sexism no longer dictates the outcomes of women of color and our communities.
Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition is dedicated to eradicating the racial inequities among women of color created by structural, institutional, interpersonal, and internalized racism. We will address racial inequities through authentic inclusion in the areas of politics, education, economic empowerment, criminal justice and health and wellness. Our success will maximize the benefits and contributions for all aggrieved communities of color and the Commonwealth as a whole.

Celia Johnston Blue, President & CEO, Visionary and Founding Member of Massachusetts Women Of Color Coalition, will speak on Panel 4: Resistance, Protection, and the Pursuit of Freedom, held in honor of John Lewis.
Centered on this year’s theme, Shaping Tomorrow: Black Autonomy in an Age of Erasure, the conference brings together leaders, scholars, activists, and community voices to explore Black autonomy, collective power, freedom, and what it means to shape the future.

What began with a vision for Women of Color has grown into a community of nearly 1,000 members, 1,000 allies, and 40 organizations, extending MAWOCC’s reach to approximately 20,000 residents across the Commonwealth.
That growth is also reflected in the next generation of leaders. Through the Intergenerational Leadership Academy, 70 women and 50 high school girls have graduated with opportunities to grow, lead, and create change in their communities.
MAWOCC’s impact has never been the work of one person. It has been built through people showing up, investing in the mission, and moving forward together.

Through our Intergenerational Leadership Academy (ILA), we create opportunities for Women and Girls of Color to develop leadership skills, strengthen their economic power, access mentorship, prioritize wellness and healing, and become active leaders in their communities.

For Shahina, ILA-GOC became a place to grow as a leader, build confidence, create lasting connections, and think more intentionally about the impact she wants to make.
Through new experiences, field trips, mentorship, and relationships with other Girls and Women of Color, she expanded her network and found even more motivation for what comes next, including her goal of pursuing medical school.
