Matthew 5:13-16
You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled under foot of men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Jesus was speaking to ordinary people , families and followers learning to walk by faith. He told them, You are the salt of the earth and You are the light of the world. Salt and light do not exist for themselves, they exist to affect what is around them. Salt preserves, enhances, and gives flavor, while light reveals truth and drives darkness away.
We live in a world that is losing its moral flavor and spiritual clarity. That is why Christ called His followers to live differently. He said we must live as salt to give life flavor and to enhance the world through our good works. However, He warned that if salt loses its flavor, it is no longer useful. We might ask, How do we stay salty? We stay salty by staying close to Christ, living out God’s Word, and loving others without trying to blend into the world. Light cannot be hidden. We might wonder how that light shines in our daily lives. It shines through kindness in hard times and hope in dark circumstances. Today, God is calling us to be salt and light in our daily walk. Our lives should be an open book where others can see Christ through us in the way we live, the things we do, the places we go, and how we treat others.
By doing good, we show people the Way. Even if others try to pull us down or put out our light, God calls us to keep shining as examples. The naked truth is that the darker the world becomes, the brighter our light will shine.
Do not get discouraged. Keep being salty and flavoring your surroundings, your homes, your workplaces, and everywhere you go. Keep enhancing your environment and do not lose heart. Your reward does not come from man, it comes from God. He knows exactly what you are doing. Even if people do not give you credit for the good you do, God is watching and He will reward you in His perfect time.
Stay faithful, stay salty, and stay close to Him.blessed evening all
