We are so thankful to the Province of Kalinga for donating an ambulance to be used for the mothers of upper Tinglayan at our birthing home in Mar-o, Bugnay! Thank you and for your generosity and support of maternal health in the province.

Evelyn and I spent a fabulous week at the International Confederation of Midwives 2023 Congress in Bali. It was a time to connect with midwives from around the world who share the vision for making midwifery-led care accessible to all women. Why midwifery-led care specifically instead of “maternity care”? Midwifery led care that is integrated into the larger health system, which provides
competent and woman-centred care, is the best way to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. Just ask WHO and UNFPA!

Julie left today after spending the last 3 months volunteering at the clinic.
We miss her already!!

We started training a new midwife at our clinic today! Passing on the skills, knowledge and training is one of our passions here at Abundant Grace of God Maternity Center. Here RM Novie shows our new staff member how to do a blood draw on our newly pregnant client.

First time mom and dad head home after the safe birth of their son. They piled into their motorized pedicab with smiles on their faces, excited to return to their village and introduce their baby boy.

Midwife Novie poses with a fresh baby born earlier this morning. This baby has already spent an hour in continuous skin-to-skin contact with her mommy and had her first breastfeeding. Novie has finished the newborn exam now and baby will go to the postpartum/recovery room with her mom for 24 hours of monitoring and care.

I saw this Happy New Year post belonging to one of our dear patients from Abundant Clinic and I asked to share it.
I find it a huge honour to serve these amazing Kalinga women, whose choose strength, resilience and joy in all circumstances.
I hope, along with all of you, that 2021 will be the beginning of many changes for the good. But no matter what may come, I will try to live as my Kalinga sisters and look for the joy in all circumstances.

It’s BCG day at the clinic and it is a full house! In keeping all of our patients socially distanced we can only allow 4 patients inside at a time. The midwives today are working hard to take care of all the mommies and babies safely and swiftly.

It’s been a busy clinic today. All the babies born this past few days came in for postpartum checks and BCG vaccinations.
Oh, and one big brother who came along for the ride in the tricey.
